Electric wood planeing hand tool

For a long time my electric wood planing hand tool never cut properly. So thought I would see if i could fix it
so this is the tool

bit tricky to get right because to actual barrel underneath that holds the cutting blade has clamps on it screwed down, but the barrel can still spin

so in the above photo show 3 screw that have to be updone to get to the actual cutting blade clamp
This clamp has another 2 screws to undo to get to the small razor sharp thin cutting blade itself .
To put ther thin blade back properly means making sure the thin cutting blade stay in place while it is clamped up. that also means adjusting this balde clamp in the right position

there are 2 of these to do and believe me without the machine in a bench vice to stop it moving would be neart impossible

actual cuttung blades groved to fit in the second clamp

so much quicker now to smooth down rough timber

Clever. So no need to sharpen the blade while you were in there?

What’s the project?

@realspeed My planer is similar and that too would have a spinning barrel if I did not use a wedge at the front end to stop any rotary movement.

the project was to get it back in working condition for something to do
