I thought this was true but wondered why. Now it is all explained.
Having never owned a clothes dryer other than my Hills Hoist it was interesting to read.
Turns ut the breeze and humidity has a lot to do with it.
Is this your experience too?

I’ve never done this. I use to hang clothes outside years ago during the Srind, Summer and perhaps Autumn/Fall when I had children, but then I also did a lot of ironing afterwards. Now-a-days, my husband does his own laundry, and I do mine. Not just because I am very particular how it’s done. Also, I do a lot of ironing, as I detest wrinkles.
Ha I had to chuckle. If any of my clothes ever need ironing they go in the bin (or get used as rags in the shed). Life is far too short to spend any of it ironing.
I do own an iron but only because my children are/were in the military and when my daughter was at school she liked her school blouses ironed.
I’m fastidious about ironing… probably because my dad was ex army.
Maybe it works with Australia’s climate Bruce, but over in the UK hanging out washing in the winter wouldn’t work as it’s so cold/damp and the days are so short. Even in Summer you have to do your wash early if you want it to dry in the garden. Thank goodness for tumble dryers.
Yes, there are usually more “Pressing” matters to attend to
Now just stop it Spitty… you’ll have me creasing up!
He’s just letting off steam!
