It did cross my mind … but to what end?

Whatever the reason it got people posting which is not a bad thing on a forum.
Isn’t it what forums are all about? And do we really know why people post on forums.
Some post because they are lonely…
Some post to tell their story and read other peoples stories.
Some post looking for answers to questions, like grovewalker has done.
Some post just to annoy people and wind them up…
It’s been my experience that misunderstandings are the main cause for confrontation on the forum…It’s always best to try and look at the other persons point of view.
But if people get wound up easily, perhaps forums are not right for them.
Sometimes people tell jokes and/or just want to make members laugh.
And some just want to make friends…
But in most circumstances, just ask google… :115:

I’ve checked on the applications of Planck’s constant. It might not best apply in this drainage challenge. It appears to be related to determining the energy of a photon - you multiply the frequency of the photon by this constant and you get its energy. Simples but not much help here. It’s quite a small number after all.

Yes. I think, in your weary state, you got a bit confused and meant the Fokker-Planck equation and its use in hydrology.

Easily done.

Thanks being understanding. I made a right Fokker of it all.
Edit - obviously I am very familiar with this equation and its applications, as we all are. But as a quick refresh I thought I’d just do a quick glance over it’s uses and variants. I can hear the gasps of disappointment that I actually felt the need to do this: Not surprisingly it was the bit about probability density functions that I’d forgotten. We have all done that at some time or other I’m sure.
In statistical mechanics and information theory, the Fokker–Planck equation is a partial differential equation that describes the time evolution of the probability density function of the position or velocity of a particle under the influence of drag forces and random forces.
That better now is it not?
