Downing street railings!

Am l seeing things, No10s railings were looking very tatty when Liz Truss
was at the lecturn the other day ??
Looked like the undercoat was showing through to me ??
Anybody else notice it ??
Have we fallen that low now ? :-1::frowning::-1:

Piccy please

No, I didn’t notice any tattiness.
They looked pretty pristine to me!

Maybe you mistook light reflections for glimpses of undercoat?!

“Shoulda gone to Specsavers!” :rofl: :nerd_face:

You’d think they’d have swept those leaves though.

Tut Tut! And it’s only September -
Everyone knows that it’s only October which should be giving a Party
(and BoJo, of course!) :crazy_face:

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came—
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.
The Chestnuts came in yellow,
The Oaks in crimson dressed;
The lovely Misses Maple
In scarlet looked their best;
All balanced to their partners,
And gaily fluttered by;
The sight was like a rainbow
New fallen from the sky.
Then, in the rustic hollow,
At hide-and-seek they played,
The party closed at sundown,
And everybody stayed.
Professor Wind played louder;
They flew along the ground;
And then the party ended
In jolly “hands around.”

All these issues of unswept leaves and possibly tatty railings have been there for the last 2-3 years. But no-one has noticed because there was something even more unkempt, disheveled and untidy stood behind the lectern stand.

I’m still getting over the fact that they blocked off the entrance to Downing Street after I left.

They make it look natural, Dex, less like a film set.

Yes, I wondered that
where is Larry?

They should have had a smoke machine and eerie lighting, with maybe the howl.of a (were)wolf in the background. That’d be a more honest portrayal.of the nightmare horror story that is about to unfold.

Maybe saving that for All Hallows. Am I allowed to say that?

A couple of times recently my eye has been drawn to that patch of brickwork to the right of the window next to the front door.

Mostly, I watch so I can do some Larry spotting

Yes, sorry, I did forget to credit the author, George Cooper.
Like many children did, I learned that poem in primary school - but couldn’t remember the poet’s name.
The comment about leaves in Downing Street made me think of that poem about the leaves having a party. I meant to look up the poet’s name and add it to the post straight after posting the poem but I got side-tracked into doing something else, then forgot about it.
Thank you for supplying it. :+1:

So did I - and another one by the same author ‘The wind and the leaves’. He had a good sense of fun. :smiley_cat: :smiley_cat:
