Dovecote relocation

I bought a Dovecote many years ago, but in all that time it has yet to coat a Dove, or any other type of bird for that matter.
I originally put it on a dead branch on our apple tree, but our son thinks birds didn’t inhabit it because it was too near other trees, and too easy for predators to reach, so I decided to move it.

Yer 'twas afore the move. You can just make out one of the doorways above the left-hand end of the platform

Half-way down.

All the way down, along with the mounting.

Upon consultation with my Lovely Cousin, we decided this spit of the pond was the best place for it. I had a fence post left over from a previous job, and a bag of postcrete, so all I needed to do was to cut through the concrete with my trust ankle-grinder and SDS drill, then apply elbow grease to my post-hole digger, before setting said post in its new position.

After repairing the roof of the Dovecote and applying some wood preserver, Master Fruitcake the elder helped me to lift it into position, angled so one of the sides exactly faces the extension window.

Upon final installation, this Dragonfly that flew all the way over from the USA decided to make its home on the front face of the post.

There’s a cradle for a tea-light in there. I might see if I can link it to the outside low voltage lanterns, but that’s a job for another time.

Very nice! I hope your visitors aren’t intimidated by that spiffy dragonfly. Your garden always looks lovely, FC.
