Just wondering if anyone has a dog with diabetes and or cushings?
My dog has both conditions, for two years now.
The diabeties I can handle, you soon get used to injecting them with insulin
Cushings though is a nightmare, they want to eat constantly and the challenge/balance of nutrition/insulin is a challenge
My dog wakes me between 3/4 am and ts first injection of insulin with food
Back to bed and up around 7:30/8 and constant mither for food.
Our previous dog got diabetes aged eight and, had to be injected twice a day to keep her stable, she lived till Fifteen, at the age of nine she got cataracts (a side effect of the diabetes) so was effectively blind for six years, it takes a lot of commitment to keep a diabetic dog going, not sure we could go through it again. I wondered why the Vet kept laboring the point when she was diagnosed, we certainly underestimated the task.

I wouldn’t change her, be like losing my shadow.
