Does The Hardness Of The Honeycomb In A Crunchie, Spoil Your Enjoyment Of It?

Here’s my advice…
Whilst it is still in its wrapper, smack it a few times with a rolling pin! Tip it into a dish or onto a plate.
Job sorted and your teeth are safe!!

Have you ever tried this? Will you, in future?

Do you have any tips on how to enjoy your ‘difficult to enjoy’ confectionery?

I am not fond of Crunchie as it is a bit too bland however I am very fond of Violet Crumble which is similar but much crunchier and tastier.

This is an old photo it is no longer owned by Nestles

Youve got to get the temperature of curlywhirly just right since you don’t want it too cold so it snaps, too chewy so it rips your teeth out while you rip it apart or too soft do it’s just like playdow.

I don’t like Crunchie honeycomb because it gives me toothache, so does the centre of Cadbury Creme Egg tut I love CCEs too!

Bruce, My sister bought me a pack of 10 Crunchies.
I haven’t eaten a Crunchie for years. Now, the sides of the honeycomb are rock hard and there is little chocolate on them.
I tried one whilst whole and l couldn’t bite it, it was so hard and l am fiercely protective of my teeth.

I had a brainwave, a few smacks with the rolling pin and now it’s eatable plus, it lasts longer!!

There’s a method in my madness!

Mel, How would you do that? Put it in the oven or the microwave? Or even in the lighted hay, you’ve just bought?

I keep one room in the house at the exact temperature which makes curlwurly perform at its very best.

For other things like Crunchie I just take my dentures out and suck it until it dissolves.

Doesn’t it make your tongue go all funny?

What it does to my tongue is the least of my worries lol.

I’m not a big lover of Crunchie, I don’t like the way it sticks to your teeth

But if you’ve got any left and want to be really naughty, try this Sweet and Salty Bar recipe, it’s on of Nigella Lawsons and it’s yum!

You can half it if you haven’t got many left!

200g/7oz dark chocolate
100g/3.5oz milk chocolate
125g/4.4oz butter
3 tbsp golden syrup
250g/8.8oz salted peanuts
6 x 40g Crunchie bars

Melt the chocolate, golden syrup and butter in a saucepan over low heat

Crush the Crunchie bars and put in a bowl with the peanuts

Pour the chocolate mixture into the bowl with the peanuts and crushed Crunchie and stir in

Pour into a baking tray and pop in the fridge to set, then cut into squares
