Does anyone else not have a mobile phone?

Haha, exactly! Who needs a smartphone when dad practically wrote the book on the great outdoors? :fishing_pole_and_fish: Sounds like a win to me!

I feel very sorry for the kids who are growing up and never knew what life was like without mobile phones and the internet.
I’m so glad that they came in after I had discovered a love for running and the wide open spaces.
I’m also glad that there were no sat navs when I spent ten years as a courier and every delivery was done using an AtoZ’s and roadmaps. My love of maps and the great outdoors continues today even though I don’t get out as often as I would like.

I’ve finally succumbed, after years of not being fussed about mobiles. Did’nt want to spend too much, so got myself a Motorola G06 on Facebook Marketplace, new for Ā£60. It was more people and places starting to phone me on my old Doro that did it, I need more bells and whistles!

And that depends on who you are feeling.

I’ve decided that is exactly what I’ll do and keep it tucked up in an inside pocket of my jacket or coat. Thank you everyone for your input…and I’m still not going to bother with a wrist watch, it’s a bit like being a child again without a watch, you go out, do what ever you please and make your way home when it starts to get dark.

Oh, good old road maps, totally with you on this Foxy.
I like to have a full view of the area, not just a small arrow showing me the way!

I expect the kids growing up today feel the same way about you growing up without a mobile phone, the internet and vaccines for so many childhood diseases.

Lol, spot on Bruce! My kids definitely look at me like a caveman whenever I describe going outside and playing until the streetlights came on, with no way to call home.

This is exactly what I mean Bruce, I’ve lived in a world with both (a world without smartphones and a world with them) so I am entitled to make a comparison, they never will.
Where did vaccines enter the topic?

That’s actually a really valid point. Having lived in both eras definitely gives us a unique perspective that younger folks won’t ever have! Modern conveniences are great, but there was a distinct peace in the pre-smartphone days that’s hard to explain to someone who wasn’t there.

In my post, you must have read it?

Yes, but they are very few and far between, it is better being a bloke busting, than a lady busting, blokes have options :icon_wink:

and we don’t need a penny

That’s good news as we go cashless

Lol, classic! The golden rule of being a guy: every tree is technically a backup plan. Some advantages never get old!

Doing my best, but, grumpy is creeping in

Lol, fair enough! As long as the ā€˜grumpy’ comes with a good sense of humor like that, you’re doing just fine!

In France I have seen them have troughs in the street in public.

The pissoirs are Paris ā€œlandmarksā€ :grinning:

Indeed they are. And the ladies loos don’t have a pedestal, just a ceramic hole.
