Do you watch reality TV?

I used to watch The Voice faithfully. It was my reality TV fix. I will occasionally watch shows like America’s Got Talent or Britain’s Got Talent, but not very often. After I got rid of my cable TV, I lost touch with The Voice so much, but I don’t miss it either.

I also watched MasterChef and a few cooking competitions like the Great British Bake Off but not live. I watched those on youtube.

I couldn’t get into shows like The Bachelor or Survivor, but I know there are a lot of shows like that out there.

There seem to be quite a few UK reality shows.

Do you watch reality TV shows? Which one(s)?

Is Bargain Hunt a reality show?

We have one here “The Farmer Needs a Wife”
From the promos I’ve seen no one looks like they’ve ever stood on grass.

Ones without performers, e.g. “Saving Lives At Sea” … :speedboat:

Not any more.
I think that for me the problem is the repetition, because they’re all IMHO old and stale now.
For the reality shows to survive, it needs an injection of enthusiasm and something new.

I almost cheered to hear that Britain’s Got Talent was cancelled this year and TBH I wish they’dlearn and cancel the awful X Factor too; they’ve been running for far too long.
The Voice?
Cringeworthy and again, just like Strictly Come Dancing and even the cookery ones like BakeOff and Master Chef they are the same thing year in year out but with different faces.

Don’t get me wrong.
Apart from Strictly or the equally awful Dancing On Ice spin-offs I’ve watched many of these in the past and thoroughly enjoyed most of them.
But there comes a day when I have seen enough of the same old, same old.
Gradually the viewing public seem to be reaching the same conclusion.

Is “Escape To The Country” reality? I used to watch that.

We sometimes watch that because it comes on before Bargain Hunt and my BH likes to look at all the green countryside.I find it sad to see how many barn conversions there are.

Barns don’t appeal to me. But I’m not sorry that some like them, and they are being put to good use.

I meant that the farms had gone.

The Voice is the only one I do enjoy.

I have gone off Strictly as there are too many unknowns for my liking, they appear to be struggling to find some well know celebrities these past few years.

The farms have not gone. It’s just the old buildings are no longer practical, having more value as residential. While modern farm buildings, many times bigger are easily built in more convenient locations.

The small farms have gone.“Barn conversion” usually means the house, yard and cowshed too.
I think we’ll have to agree to dis-agree on this.

Same here Visitor

Yes, that’s in the reality section of streaming videos. I’ve considered watching it because the scenery looked beautiful. But I’m not sure about the reality part.

The small farms have been bought out by other small, neighbouring, farms to make bigger farms. Yes whole farmyards have been put to better used, but the farmland is more productive than ever.

No, I can’t be bothered with reality TV. It bores me rigid.
