Do You Think Old People Look Ridiculous Driving Sports Cars?

It’s a private road, Rachel. I don’t even get booked for speeding.

Many people look daft in sports cars, I’d say if you can get in and out of it with dignity then no problem, but rolling out onto all fours onto the road to get out rather defeats and effect you were hoping to make with the car.

There was a time when I thought you make sense. What happened, Jules???

I thought that made sense. One of my neighbours big lady has a sports car she loves, but she can’t get in and out with any sort of dignity. It’s far too low for her and the struggle seems to me to be rather defeating the idea she is promoting, that she is young free and single.

Thanks Jules, it makes sense now.

The only problem with Sports cars are the size of the doors

My wife and I have had them all our lives but the doors are a problem you need two parking spaces to get out

We do have a couple in their 80s who live here and you see them nearly every day going for a ride in their Morgan.

Rubbish

What a load of twaddle, I bought my sports car as a retirement present to myself at age 55…I turned 70 in May and I certainly don’t think, nor does anyone else, I look silly driving it…I always wanted a sports car but when I was younger I could never afford it…I paid cash for this one, $45,000 15 years ago…

nothing to do with anyone else, tell them to go away or youll reach over and pop their little dailymail bubbles.

im still building and riding motorcycles, still drive sports cars(mk3 supra tt),still enjoy sailing etc,i always have and always will, and im not being told what to do by some salty self opinionated little human that smells of wee and bitterness.how ever many of them there are.

i may be ooold but im very much still enjoying being free, single and alive.

Dilligaf…

It’s not the salty and wee smellers, I think the ones who make the most comments are the yoof on benefits, and won’t work in order to get what others have earned

I was several pages into this thread when I realised it was old!

  1. Who cares about image and what people think

  2. Never ever wear beige

  1. Never use a tartan shopping trolley

Oh god yes!! :043:

I mean no! :-D:-D

  1. Never be seen in the vicinity of a Saga Holiday coach.

Envious! (Extremely)

  1. Ditto Saga bath tub, I mean cruise ship :-D:-D

This is the first year that we don’t have a summer sports car, and today I missed it

Theres nothing like driving the coast road with the lid down on an afternoon like this.

Who cares what people think

Least I know my cars are paid for out right, unlike most of the younger ones who have it finance with no hope of making the final payment and end up giving it back

My husband likes his cars, he works hard for his money and as he says, cant take it with you

No not at all. Sometimes I guess we can’t afford such things until later life and if it’s something you.ve always wanted then why not, bugger what anyone else thinks. I.ve been wanting a pink moped for quite a while now and I will get it one day!

There’s nothing wrong with an older gentleman driving an open topped sports car so long as his toupee is taped on well.

My neighbour and her husband reached 70 recently and their sons who both live in the USA now came over and hired 2 Morgan Sports cars for the parents to drive for the day (they are manufactured down the road).
I think it was a lovely ‘gift’ but wouldn’t want to drive one myself .
