Do you sometimes think that it would not matter if you were to suddenly stop living?

To go to sleep and not wake up?
Why Life, with all it’s up’s and downs?
Imagine never having to deal with those negative aspects of life.
No more worry, stress, money issues, no nothing.
I sometimes do. What really is the purpose of working to live?
We work 40/50 years, then retire with the hope of doing all those things, or at least some of things that work stopped us from doing.

I have never thought that because very out going and though not a rocket scientist I have been able to help people in my walk through life but yes I would have liked to have made a real difference .

I’m not an educated man but have made a difference but nothing like I wanted to . I wanted to become a Politician only to help people but that did not pan out , lol .

It is normal for people especially men to get to a certain age and ask themselves what you are asking because we would have liked to have made a BIG impact for the greater good instead of smaller things here and there so we might ask ourselves " Is this it ? " .

Decades ago I was asked by a politician I knew personally - “Why don’t you run for a political position, you are well spoken and knowledgeable, I am sure plenty of people would vote for you”?
My response was - “No disrespect to you, I find a large proportion of politicians hypocritical and self serving.
One must follow the party line the majority of the time or be ostracised by the party. Run as an independent? Not much hope of making any real change.”

My wife would miss me. Other than that, the world would go on pretty much as it is. So, yeah, it wouldn’t matter much.

I can’t decide if I want to go to sleep and not wake up again, or have loads of people in my bedroom muttering prayers, a priest swinging an incense burner, angels whispering sweet nothings in my ear, the hand of God … :icon_eek:

I’ve made a difference but not like I’m saving people from jumping of bridges so agree with you as the world would go on .

I also think incredibly difficult to make a positive difference as the other side fights you all day as do lobbyist .

Might be bit different by you and in the end I just did not have the patience , personality for it .

I’m just an insignificant mote anongst billions.
Just average.
I look in awe sometimes at inventors and discoverers who brought all these weird, wonderful and stress inducing gizmos to the average person.
Did they make life easier? Or just allow us to live faster and cram more living into time.
But it’s kinda nice to just be here for the ride and have fun.

I can’t think of a nicer way to go.
Just go to sleep. After a nice nosh up of my favourite nibbles of course.

Tonight I and another friend go out in a friends food truck and must say I feel young again doing it .

Granted not making a difference which is what Bretrick was asking but something about " being out there " which gives me inspiration .

I have dome lots of plumbing jobs in area I live in as retired plumber and I charge very little since here not licensed so charge even cheaper then handy man but that has not rejuvenated me , lol like the food truck .

And let me add food truck is a pain in the @-- but feel young again .

The secret is to feel fulfilled with what you do in Life.
The reward is in the pleasure of doing it.

Good for you @NotCompSavvy , it sounds like you’ve cracked it.

It cant happen quick enough here.
So long as its not. More Painful. Mentally or Physical, than that accumulated in the current. Discontent.

Having stressed too Oneself and Kith & Kin.
Having a PMA. Hating Nothing. Walking away from dislikes.
Now amounts to Zero.

I’d like to go like my grandad, in his sleep, not screaming like his passengers…

That’s how my mother went, she went for her afternoon nap and never woke. I’m glad it was like that both for her sake and ours, no pain no drawn out illness, just slipped away.

I’m an optimist with a strong sense of self preservation, I enjoy everything I do, even the mundane things. It’s just good to be here, so make it last as long as you can.
Do more of the things you like, and less of the things you don’t…

I also thought that on the food truck I would be able to tell jokes to customers but I am prohibited lol

'The UK and the USA are similar as far as women have more tattoos then men ', that was when I was told no more jokes to tourists nor anyone .

I used to do a rated X comedy skit but I was never paid just free meals and drinks ( I do not drink alcohol ) at a Key west eatery and 2 South Beach Miami hotels but again never paid so who knows maybe I stunk , lol

People did like it but when you are free entertainment for an establishment who knows how good you are . I genuinely enjoyed it but roughly 6 months ago lost interest after 5 years of doing it .
