Do you or have you had a recurring nightmare?

I had this same nightmare on and off for at least 5 years, from age 15 to 20.
I was running away from something, running for my life, across flat ground out in the countryside. There was a tremendous roaring noise and just as the noise became almost unbearable, I looked around and there was a plane about to hit me. I tripped and the plane went off into the sky.
Rather mild, I suppose, but still I experienced real fright, enough to always wake me up, shouting.

Been having the same nightmare 30-40 years.

I’m in a trench with a lot of other soldiers and there is a hill behind us. Artillery is continually hitting the hill behind us. All of a sudden the side of the hill slides down and buries all of us.

I can set the clock by the time I always wake up, 2 am. I can’t go back to sleep after that.

Running away from something is always the common theme in my dreams …
And just as I get caught and a hand grabs me I wake up.

Yes,I too had a recurring nightmare many years ago where I was alone and lost in a strange Town/City and couldn’t find My way Home…I always woke up scared and crying…but…at that time My Mum and My Husband had died within weeks of each other, so I’m sure that was the cause of it…I’ve never had that nightmare since thank God,and I hope I never will again.

@Bretrick, if I were a shrink I’d wonder if you’d been chased by a bee or wasp when you were very young.

No doubt Freud would have said you’ve had a sexual problem throughout your adolescence , ‘cos he was a tad too much like that.

How awful that must be.
I am sure you have investigated ways to get rid of the nightmare.
CBT - Cognitive Behavior Therapy has a tendency to be effective.

If something is playing on my mind or worrying me, then my brain’s go to nightmare is a work & travel combination. In my dream I’m usually late for a plane and then to compound it, it turns out that I’ve not completed the work for the meeting I’m travelling to. It’s always a joy to hark back to my old working life.

@Bretrick
I believe that some dreams may come from deep memories carried from past lives What you described feels powerful like something that might have been experienced long ago Sometimes these dreams visit us until the mind is ready to let them go It’s fascinating how the subconscious can hold such strong images.

I read this earlier:

Nightmares can be a side effect of some hypertension drugs, particularly certain beta-blockers like metoprolol and propranolol, as well as reserpine and alpha-agonists.

Crikey, I don’t remember having those when I was a kid. Maybe my mum put them in my ovaltine at bedtime, the murderess so and so.

It’s an old blokes drug. You are lucky if you don’t have to take them.

I sometimes dream that I’ve been demoted to TL2!
Sometimes I dream that I’ve promoted to TL4! :partying_face::champagne:

Who says that wet dreams are purely the preserve of the young!

You are TL3, I’m TL1

Which is best and why?
