Do you need a Pedicure?

Toenails, and keeping them tended to.
Are you a do it yourself person? Or
do you prefer to have them done by
anyone else?

I keep my own toenails tended to.
Foot baths, trim them, sometimes
polish, other times not.

But about every two months, I treat
myself to a Pedicure and let someone
else make them nicer.

With my size feet, the DIY route has to be the approach.
The last time I attended my annual health review, I received full marks for my foot maintenance.

Ooh, I’d hate anyone messing about with my feet! I’ll do my own as long as I can

I do a once a week pedicure:

1)take off last weeks nail polish
3) pumice off hard skin
4)nice smelly foot scrub
5)rinse and dry
6) oil and push back cuticles
7) clip nails
8) file nails
9) buff nails
10) fast drying base coat
11) polish nails a happy colour and let it dry
13) slather on a nice foot moisturiser and put a pair of soft socks on to let it soak in!

It’s a real treat and it keeps my feet looking OK for an old lady!

Well, that is a very good thing LongDriver, full marks
for foot maintenance

Maree, yours sounds like a great routine. Taking
care of our feet and toenails. pays off usually. You
really tend to yours well, don’t you…

I need to start with a fast drying base coat, like you do.

What is your happy nail polish color?

Mine in a Peach shade …

It’ll take more than a pedicure to rescue my feet!

I like bright reds and pinks, sometimes purple!

It’s a bit of self care that doesn’t cost much but makes you feel good when you look at your pretty toes!

I always use fast drying polishes because I haven’t got the patience to wait and end up smudging it

I go to see my chiropodist once every six weeks.

She trims my toenails and removes my hard skin.

I feel like I’m working on air for days after. £35 well spent.

Hi

I booked a home visit from a Chiropodist yesterday, a very reasonable £37 for 45 mins.

She is very busy, can’t visit until April 8th.

I am strong anti coagulants, I bruise and bleed easily, much prefer her to do it.

I do my own pedicures the majority of the time and like to keep my feet in good trim - but I do not apply nail polish myself. Most of the year, I leave the surface of my nails natural and buff my nails to a natural shine after trimming.

On a few occasions each year, I may want to wear nail polish - e.g for holidays where I go bare foot or wear flip-flops a lot - I go to my local beauty salon and the lovely salon owner gives me a really thorough pedicure and applies gel nail polish, which dries straightaway and lasts much longer than old-style nail polish.
I think it cost me £35 when I had one last week.

I wonder why people paint their toe nails.Feet are never going to be sexy whatever you do to them.

I have never considered trying to make my toenails look sexy!

I paint my toenails for myself when I’m baring my feet because I think they look better than my natural nails do in bright sunshine - I don’t want to look at my motley collection of ridged toenails, bearing the scars of all the long hikes I’ve done over the life of each nail. Anyway, a bright coral red nail polish puts me in the holiday mood.
The older one becomes, the more ugly and discoloured toenails become, I think - especially when they have been encased in Boots and shoes all Winter.
