Do you know of any well known singers who also were in movies?

Barbra Streisand really hits the spot for me and being a Jewess, she really knows how to get the emphasis right when singing in Hebrew. Her rendering of Avinu Malkeinue (an ancient Hebrew Prayer) is both provoking and as a prayer, is heart felt. Rather than me having to type out her words in English, I have found a video with English lyrics embedded within it.

Elvis was my first thought, but back in the day it was common for successful pop stars to make a film.
There was Rick Nelson, Fabian, Bobby Rydell, Cliff Richard, Adam Faith, Billy Fury, Joe Brown, Jess Conrad and possibly many I’ve forgotten. Meat Loaf was in a lot of films in more recent times.

I never knew that about Meatloaf. I do not watch many movies. Only dvds I get from my local library.

My earliest memories of singers in movies was a film called The Girl Can’t Help it, Fats Domino, Eddie Cochran, Little Richard. Julie London. The Platters. Not forgetting the lovely Jayne Mansfield who died in an horrific car crash.

Frankie Laine who made lots of movies in the fifties, and continued until he died at 93 of a heart attack following a hip replacement operation. He was probably most famous for singing the theme song to ‘Rawhide’ the TV series. I bought the record (which I still have) and the flip side was a song called ‘Journeys End’ and has always been Mrs Foxes favourite song since the first time she heard it when we were courting (can you still use that word?) back in 1971

Thank you for posting this.
Must be heartbreaking to go through devastation such as this.
