PING. That’s a blast from the past.
At 16yo ventured into a 5yr Student Apprenticeship. Wage 19/6p / week!!
Blue Jeans and a tartan shirt,for some reason, were the must have of the day.
Plagued my father to cough up. He said “OK. Ill buy them for your birthday”.
But your not coming into this house, dressed in Blue Jeans like a Labourer!!
Which didn’t quite sink in. Snobby never crossed my mind.
Until on opening the parcel. They turned out to be ‘Black with Green stitching’!!
They never made a song about them. BUT.
All my new pals, made a proper. Dig attcha. Song and dance.
Knuckle Defending the indefensible becoming a pass time.
“Where did you get that blackeye son”. “It was thanks to you Dad”.
