Do you attend car boot sales?

I only go when there is something I specifically want.
Sunday saw me attend, wanting hedge clippers.
When I arrived, the very first stall had want I wanted. $5.
Paid and was away inside 2 minutes. My shortest visit so far.

Used to but the essence was lost, became more organized tat markets.

I had to look it up.

I think the closest we have here are flea markets or garage sales. I’ve been to them but not often.

I used to, but most places which held boot sales have been turned over to houses etc. and there’s very few of them around, Besides, nearly all of it is just tat and junk, hence don’t bother with them these days.

I have,to buy bacon and egg sandwiches. There was a big one twice a week next to where I worked. So if I was feeling a bit peckish lunchtime, fortunately the burger van was by the entrance.

I used to be a regular at garage sales and markets but eventually realised that I had enough junk cluttering the house so never go now.

Do still occasionally visit the odd Op Shop but try not to buy anything except books

Years ago yes, call me a cynic but I suspect that many people have wised up and sell the really desirable stuff on eBay.
Back in those days before the internet kicked in it was a different matter.

We have a Car Boot field about a mile from here, the event being held on a Sunday Morning. Folks mainly attend from the city. There is a single carriage “A” road with a speed limit of 50mph which heads back towards the city, when the folks exit the event, they tend to drive at about 26mph the three miles back to the main traffic island so, if you are in a hurry to get somewhere on a Sunday, go through the lanes instead

We love a walk around car boots, and doing them too.
Picked up most of my tools from them.
I am shocked though how so little some people have,i end up giving those people items for nothing, and their response is heart warming bless them.

Like you, I had no idea that cars wore boots or that sales were large enough to gather a crowd

We’re just across the road from the Community Centre. There’s a car boot sale held in the car park and playing field twice a week. We like to have a wander around sometimes. I’ve bought a few garden tools from there. Good in Springtime for buying bedding plants.

That is not always the case. When I used to visit the boot sales, yes most of the gear on offer was tat, but once in a while I would find something really dirty that was worth buying, but had to contain myself and haggle a little so as not to disclose my delight at finding such a rarity. I came across my 1st Martin Bros bird grotesques by this method … very grotty and cobweb covered at the bottom of a clearance box under some broken doll parts and lidless teapots; £1.50 very well spent :+1::grin:

I’m sure somewhere there is the odd bargain to be made, if you look hard enough and lucky. I never came across anything remotely worth buying and sort of gave up looking and preferred to have a few extra hours in bed, instead of tramping around a field/car park looking at tat.

All the car car parts labelled for our Merican friends :icon_wink:

Bless your heart.

This afternoon, I left the grocery store rolling my blue-colored grocery cart filled with cookies, chips, and eggplant. I loaded the sacks of groceries into the trunk, but accidentally dropped my grocery list on the sidewalk. I snapped it up and tossed it into the trash can, I then walked around the hood of the car to check a tire that had been bugging me. Once in the car, I checked my side mirrors, put the gearshift into reverse, made sure I had plenty of gas, and checked to ensure there were no trucks behind me. The transmission was acting iffy, so I decided to stop at my daughter’s apartment. When I walked in she was wearing oven mitts and lifting a pot off off of the burner. I borrowed her cell phone and waited for the tow truck to come get the car. The guy wrote down the license plate number, hooked up the car, covered the windshield and gave me a map to the parking lot where it was stored until I could have a mechanic take a look.

If you read this far, you are more American than you were sixty seconds ago..

Used to when I live down in Perth all the time. There’s a grand one on a Sunday out at the Errol Airfield. Now I only get to go when I’m visiting in Perth.
