DIY Horse Fly Repellent

Anyone made their own? I found this recipe:

In a 30 ml (1 fl oz) carrier oil (like fractionated coconut, jojoba, or almond):

  • 10 drops Geranium
  • 8 drops Lavender
  • 5 drops Rosemary
  • 4 drops Peppermint
  • 3 drops Cedarwood
  • 3 drops Vanilla oleoresin/absolute (as fixative)

But I used water instead of a carrier oil - think it will work? There’s a part of my hike where there’s loads of them and I hate them!!

The one thing you’re missing is bergamot but perhaps best not used as it can cause severe sunburns,
Great as a room spray though.

I think you’ll smell wonderful Azz … seriously you’re not going out hiking in this heatwave. You’ll shrink.

I’ve been out every day in it Mort :003:

It was a bit strong tbh, I might stick to the more musky/masculine smells - not sure which one it was, but overall it smelt like a perfume, even tho individually they don’t :102:

Some decent patchouli oil!
I wouldn’t dare wear it out anymore…it makes me smell my age!:v:
