Disney+ lost 300,000 subscribers in North America, but they’re fine with it. They increased the price of ad free services and added an ad tier service. According to Disney, they made more money despite the loss of subscribers because ads bring in more money than add free subscribers. It worked so well that they’re planning another price increase this year.
Other streaming services like Netflix are also noting this trend.
However, Disney+ lost 4M subscribers in India because they lost rights to a sports league there. They’re sitting up to take notice of that, so they might not be as eager to lose more subscribers.
