You would think it would have all gone swimmingly - lots of slagging off left wingers, lots of jingoistic talk, etc. Oops, no, Carlson decided for some reason to attack the UK military capability and claim it was wrong for the UK to back Ukraine. Thanks matey but butt out. Then to rub salt in (actually, just be a sh-t) Carlson then said it was wrong of the UK to go war with the Nazis over Poland.
He is such a nice guy is that Carlson. However I kind of blame Rees-Moggs poor judgement on giving Carlson airtime and publicity.

I havenāt watched it, but I despise Rees-Mog, an absolute scumbag that has no place in the future of an equal just society - just the destruction of it.
Just watched the first 3 minutes of Mog going on about the economy - SCREW the economy - when people are struggling to eat or heat their homes you absolute bell-end!! The economy is NOT a measure of a good/equal/just society!
Capitalism is EVIL and itās scummy people like Mog who have kept it alive for so long. We need a revolution and humanity needs to rid itself of greedy, thieving, and exploitative people like him and his ancestral line - they have been nothing but a scourge and blight on humanity and our planet.

Iād rephrase that to ācapitalism is inherently exploitativeā. The essence of a capitalist system is that the onwers of the investment seek to exploit in order to maximise the returns on that investment. This means exploiting resources, materials and people. When that is done to an extreme, unchecked or at the detriment of others then this can be construed as evil.
Here is where we disagree though. As yet no workable alternative has been formulated. Plus capitalism has proven to be very good at some things - innovation, change & adaptation, generating wealth and even (on occasion) sharing wealth. But to address the worst of capitalist tendencies, the excessive exploitation, there needs to be checks and controls. And also a bit of socially needed non-capitalist spend (public transport for example or social housing) paid for by taxing those who benefit from capitalism.
So the reason Rees-Mogg and his like are evil is that they do not want such checks, regulations and controls. And they dislike socially needed spend and hate taxes. They want rampant capitalism because they see themselves as best placed to benefit from this and do not care about the impact on everyone else.
Actually, heās right. We should never have got involved with Russia v Ukraine. Other than accepting refugees from Ukraine we are not strong enough or wealthy enough to support another countries war. Not only has it put every British person living here in danger, it has virtually drove us to bankruptcy and starved us of energy and fuel.
Churchill made the right decision in declaring war on Germany after they attacked Poland. It would have been us next whereas Russia poses no threat to us whatsoever unless we keep poking the bear with a stickā¦

Your phrasing implies that it has just been the UK on its own supporting Ukraine. Which would be a challenge. But of course it was not, it was pretty much the rest of the world. And rightly so. Putin, regardless of your fondness for him, is a danger and acted in the most illegal way when he invaded Ukraine. He had no justification or right. If the world did not act to support Ukraine then what was next? We know from history that appeasement does not work with bullying dictators.
Azz I Honestly canāt understand why you hate capitalism. Workers donāt employ workers and pay their wages, capitalists do. Yes I agree there is unfairness but it is far worse in the USA where there is no set days holidays. Workers rely on tips to make up their pay packets. here in the UK there is a law for holiday time off. in the USA the company bosses say if even workers are allowed holidays.
Here in the UK there is absolutely nothing to stop someone starting up their own business from scratch.
I know because I have done it.How? by taking out a bank loan provided by those with money .

Rarely post on political threads, neither do i favour one political party over another.
I tend to sit on the fence, which makes it difficult for me to decide where i put my cross on the ballot paper.
Having said that, i must say that all parties enjoy āfree jolliesā and always have done so.
Also in this country, we never vote for a PM, but in a general election we vote for a party who already have a leader, voted for by the party members.
Always has been the case as far as i know.
