Dirty Toilet - is it mould?

Apologies in advance for posting something so gross, but I’m having the unenviable task of cleaning this disgusting thing but have no idea what the black is. I’ve not actually seen it, only this picture - so don’t quite know what to go armed with product wise. Vinegar/baking soda? Bleach? Coca Cola

I’m aware of black accumulating in toilets at the water line when they’re not cleaned regularly, but not all the way up the bowl itself.

Can anyone help - is it mould or something?

Difficult to be sure from a piccie. Best guess is that bleach is your first port of call.

I would throw that Toilet Pan away and buy another one.

Dunno what it is Pesta but you need full protective gear on before you go near it!

Then throw the Lodger Out.

I heard about this on Jeremy Vine, the jobs folks are being TOLD to do upon return from Furlough.

I think a specialist deep clean company needs to be brought in! Health and safety reasons. You could catch something nasty from that bog!

Definately get a new toilet .

Yes, I was thinking that Tess.

For heaven’s sake!!! Just spray it with some bleach based product and leave it for a couple of hours or ideally overnight. Not need to over-react over this!!

It is a dirty lodger  … it’s in the bedsit my daughter’s father rents.

He’s in hospital at the mo and we’re going armed with cleaning stuff and bin bags and nose pegs. :frowning:

In the first instance, I was thinking of squirting a shed load of Domestos around it and leaving it for a good while.

I’m just so confused what it is (as I say I haven’t seen it in person - yet).

… or add some compost and stick an Aspidistra in it!

Calm down Dexy

No over reaction, more never seen anything like it before. As I said dirt is usually at the water line not all the way up the bowl. It’s almost like it’s been filled up with dirty standing water as in a flood or something, which isn’t the case. :017:

Well, that must have been quite some Indian takeaway, a really hot curry!
Oh sh!t, I had better put the lid on this and get out of here!

… tickles the fancy

Is your daughter’s father the tenant or the owner Pesta?
Not being nosy, just wondering if he needs help with housework.

Wiltshire Farm Foods at it’s best

It’s the comments saying get a new pan, or professionals in that seem to be over-reacting:shock:

While you’re at it, pour some bleach into the cistern so that unreachable parts also get a dose over the next couple of flushes.

Tenant Tess

He needs help - yes. (In more ways than one).

Get rid of the Guinness drinker who uses the toilet and replace the whole toilet system.
