As long as they get the proper person for it, not just rush to pin it on who is easiest. I don’t trust the police these days their getting it wrong too many times lately. Last was that kid who was knifed and killed by that horror who was yelling he had been racially abused. Load of tripe and the kid lay dying while the police slammed the cuffs on him.
Hmm…I don’t trust the Police much these days either and it wouldn’t surprise Me if They can’t find the so called ‘murderer’,They’ll decide that Anne wasn’t ‘bludgeoned to death’ after all and it was all just a terrible accident…I know…far fetched…but as I’ve said…nothing surprises Me these days.
RIP Anne.
Surely the media have a responsibility to report the news as efficiently and as accurately as they can, especially with such a high profile (and controversial) character as Anne Widdicombe, preventing as much speculation as possible.
My first thought when hearing of her death, was that maybe she fell, or had a heart attack.
As it turned out, the truth was much more sinister, and if media had held back, and had not been involved in a race with other networks, to inform us of her death, we would have known straight away that this was not a death from ‘natural causes’.
The truth is fine to report and they did just that. It’s all the other stuff they do that’s wrong.
I think so yes, particularly with such high profile politicians.
We don’t yet know if this was politically motivated but as i recall, we had the full facts of the murder of Jo Cox very early on.
I wonder whether this is something to do with all the speculation that would be/is rife in the internet? The police saying that it was a British white man who had been arrested would stop some unsavoury speculation with regards to ethnicity. Of course now he has been released without charge that speculation has a free rein again. I really hope it’s resolved soon.
Yes i hope it’s resolved soon.
The speculation i was referring too, was about the circumstances of her death - how she died, rather than the ethnicity of the man (or woman) who murdered her.
Heartbreaking news, loved her in Strictly .
The OP is up for debate, not the judicial process IMO.
I’ve created a thread about how that is happening across the board with everything in our lives as standards slip. Perhaps AI intelligence that led them to the wrong suspect…
I understand this view and the good intention it is based on. I am just not sure that it is practical in all cases.
They seem very quick to point out that the crime was not racially or politically motivated and that the perp was white…Even when they released the first suspect and had to start all over again.
Yorkshire is more than a bit away from where she lived. How did they manage to arrest someone from that distance away. I would have thought the person would probably be local certainly nearer than Yorkshire. ![]()

CCTV Being the Tool of The Day.
CCTV along with face recognition software. A few weeks ago I was walking along Victoria St in London and there was a van sat on the pavement, a few police standing near the van and a dozen more police round the corner. The had cameras mounted on it and “Facial Recognition” written on the side. I found it quite disturbing in a big brother way.

I thought you recognised everybody by facial recognition…Now if they were to recognise Mrs Fox by the tattoo on her buttocks…That would be an invasion of privacy…

Isn’t there something about babies seeing their mothers faces and that teaches us to see faces in the clouds etc? It’s a built in feature of most animals.
Foxy, don’t give the Ai ideas, we have been training it for long enough!
“Don’t tell him Pike” ![]()
Sounds like “facial” recognition’s a thing of the past.
