Digging up rhubarb

I tried to dig up my rhubarb today to move it but it seems to have roots going to Australia couldn’t budge it .
Any hints all you gardeners ?

Ask one of the Aussies on here to start digging from the other end. I don’t have a clue Muddy. Can’t wait for comments on that. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I don’t think you need worry too much about how much root to remove, its pretty resilient.

Hack away at the roots, it’ll take a good bashing and bounce right back

Rhubarb is like a weed, the gardener, that I had then, removed mine because I hate the stuff, but I noticed last year it was regrowing.

I don’t grow Rhubard, but found this for you, Muddy.
Just scroll down, there’s lots of info here:

Thank you everyone

I will try again today but otherwise it will just have to stay where it Is.

As others have said @Muddy rhubarb is pretty tough, it doesn’t matter whether some root breaks off from the bottom and if the root is too big or old then you can cut it vertically to split it into smaller clumps and it will regenerate quite easily, although don’t expect anything from it in the first year…

Well the thread is moving even though the rhubarb isn’t
