My idol all those years ago was Frankie Vaughan

My friend and I went to the Hippodrome to see him and afterwards went to the Stage Door to get his autograph. He chatted to us and gave us both a signed photo of himself ……. we were in heaven

I meant as a musician. Plus i was told a lot growing up I looked like him. Personally I was never a big Beatles fan. Back when I grew up late 60s early 70s I was listening to Led Zeppelin, Iron Butterfly, Jefferson Airplane were more up my alley.

I was often in awe of Cricklewood born Professor Oliver Sachs and I’ve read several of his books. He was one of the few eminent scientists of his ilk to take the time to reply to my letters written to him some years before his death, so for me he remained special.
