Ilfracombe harbour waves swept child into the sea - BBC News (video)

Warnings have been issued after a child was swept into the sea at Ilfracombe Harbour.

North Devon Council said a group of four children were playing on the pier slipway during high tide when a wave knocked a girl off her feet.

The child was swept between the railings and into the sea, but was saved by two members of the public.

One very lucky girl … who’s learned a lesson, I hope … :+1:

Oh my goodness that was a lucky escape!

How very brave by those two members of the public.

Lucky indeed … watching the video I’d say the next wave would have whisked her off out to sea. Bet she’ll never forget that ordeal.

Lucky girl…stuff of nightmares

Wow, lucky escape, and quick thinking from those rescuers, very brave, poor kid must have been petrified

Daft place to play of course, and asking for it, but when you’re young you don’t see danger

And I’m fascinated by rough seas and drawn towards them myself, don’t be surprised if I go that way and you see me on the news……
