Reasons for Our Call:
Lack of Effective Leadership: Sir Keir Starmer’s tenure as leader has been marked by indecisiveness, lack of clear direction, and failure to effectively communicate the party’s vision.
Failure to Address the Southport Murders: The brutal murders of three innocent little girls in Southport demand urgent attention. Sir Keir Starmer’s lack of action and empathy in response to this tragedy is deeply concerning.
Insensitive Remarks: His recent characterization of concerned citizens as “Far Right Thugs” is unacceptable. As elected representatives, leaders should engage in respectful dialogue with the public, not resort to name-calling.
Prioritization of British Citizens: We urge Sir Keir Starmer to put the interests of British people first. While it is essential to address global issues, our citizens’ well-being and concerns must remain paramount.
I didn’t vote for him, but he is now PM, leave him to get on with it. He’s barely got his feet under the table.
I don’t want change. I want people to give the new Government a Chance to govern - they were only voted into office in July. It is still early days in a 5 year term of government.
Anyway, I can’t see the point of a petition calling for the removal of a Party Leader - the Leader of a Party is not subject to election by the whole of the general public - the general public vote is at the Ballot Box and their Vote is for the MP who represents their constituency, not the Leader of a Party or the Prime Minister.
The Political Parties choose their own leader - there are set routes for Parties who want to change the Leader of their Party - and MPs collectively can file a motion of no confidence in the Government.
I don’t know who James Andrew is or why he has raised this petition - and I don’t know why he thinks there has been a

The man who is suspected of committing this terrible act has been arrested and charged with murder, hasn’t he?
And Starmer was right, there was a lot of far-right thugs stirring up trouble and rioting - “thugs” is quite tame word to describe the people I saw committing criminal acts of arson and assault, such as setting fire to objects and pushing them into occupied buildings and throwing bricks at police who were trying to stop the rioting.
I want all of them like him gone - none of them truly serve the people they’re just out for themselves and their rich pals.
- Homelessness at an all time high
- Child poverty at an all time high
- People dying of cancer at an all time high
- Crap in food at an all time time
- Funding and supporting genocides

If they aren’t trying to genuinely fix the world (which let’s face it, almost none of them are, apart from say people like Corbyn!) they are just plain old scumbags. The world is sick of dishonest corrupt politicians!!
You mean like we gave Liz Truss a chance?
The problem is in the highly unlikely event that Starmer takes any notice of a petition and resigns, who will replace him? Does anyone think Angela Rayner would be a better PM? Is there anyone in the Labour party who will put the citizens of UK first?
If only things were “Clear Cut”, life would be so simple, wouldn’t it?
I wish people would stop reading clickbait headlines in the right wing media…
The best thing Starmer’s done so far was to get those Thugs banged up PDQ.
Who’s “we”?
Was there a public petition like the one in the OP, demanding that Liz Truss resign?
Did you sign it?
I did not sign it - I didn’t even see it - you have quoted my post but I’m not one of your “we” group.
Hmm – yes let’s think of what else Starmer has done:
Condemned millions of pensioners to a cold winter, whilst ensuring he and his fellow MPs maintain their own “energy” allowance
Lied about not putting up N.I. (now saying he only meant workers N.I. payments– yeah right)
Gave huge pay rises to his union backers
Claims there is a huge “black hole” in finances, yet is going to borrow £50b
I am sure others can come up with more!
Well he hasn’t ensured him and his fellow mp,s anything, right or wrong it’s all perfectly within the rules
NI hasn’t gone up yet as we haven’t had the budget, and it’s only proposed for business
He doesn’t pay the unions
The black hole is probably more than has been stated…
He could have led by example and declined to take his “energy” allowance
He has stated that N.I. will go up (but now claiming the manifesto only meant it wouldn’t go up for workers)
His Chancellor agreed the payments to the union members - payback for the union support
The “black hole” will be even deeper and darker after borrowing £50b
Might be gone before end of year. Tempted to have a flutter.
Sincerely hope he is not leading the country on Remembrance Sunday. The very thought, nauseating.
Considering Remembrance Sunday is only 2 weeks away, I think it is a fairly safe bet that Keir Starmer will still be Prime Minister.
All the military personnel in my family considered their Boss was the Monarch and they worked for the country, not the Prime Minister, so when we gather round the Cenotaph to remember our loved ones and their comrades who were killed in conflict, we don’t give the current PM much thought, whoever it is.
Starmer’s playing the tough guy at the moment, nearer the GE he’ll be telling us how he’s fixed everything and handing out £££ all round.
Its very much a pathetically futile gesture, this petition. It really falls into the category of why bother.
Such a petition cannot be to raise awareness. It is evident to everyone that Labour and Starmer have not had a great first few months in power. They have managed a misstep or poor presentation in so much of what they’ve said or done. Even Starmer himself must be aware that he and his government are not doing great thus far. So there is no need for more awareness on this.
It can’t be a petition to make anything happen - certainly not to make the stated goal of the petition happen. Labour has a whopping majority, the Tories are headless chickens, there is no credible PM replacement at the moment, there is zero appetite for a change in PM. These petitions can oblige a government to debate some issue in parliament. This one will not get that far. It is a petition for publicity not a petition for change - and see above.
It is at the wrong time. The new budget has not been presented. Most of the initiatives and changes have not yet been put forward for parliamentary debate. It is a petition that basically says “we don’t like what Starmer might do”. Really? The only people who will sign that are people who do not like Starmer, have never liked Starmer and won’t like Starmer regardless of what he does.
So a complete waste of time.
And just to add to that. Just name one petition that has ever achieved it’s objectives.
Additionally, I noted that the Petition was started on 1st August - the General Election was on 4th July - the Petitioner was sticking the boot in less than a month after the Election!
