Deep Brain Stimulation helps some patients with Parkinson's disease

This caught my attention because the video shows a guy with Parkinson’s with the deep brain stimulator turned on or off. The difference is striking. When the device is turned on, the tremors are minimal. When it’s off, the tremors are so drastic that living a normal life would be severely impaired. Even drinking water would be difficult.

DBS only works for some with Parkinson’s but the improvement is dramatic.

Here’s another treatment for Parkinson’s that’s less invasive. This is a glove that delivers electrical stimulation. Patients only have to wear them a few hours before they see results. The test patient in the video looks like he’s had a miracle recovery. This is still in trials and it’s hoped to be approved in the next couple years.
