Decided to stay put (rather than move)

Thanks for your comments ladies, all being well I shall be able to give you a progress report next Wednesday. It is a great shame to destroy trees, but these ones going next week or only Lleylandi, not beautiful, rare trees.
I’m just glad that particular neighbour agreed to it, but he’s not having to pay or do the job himself, the insurance are doing it, so no doubt it will eventually go on my premiums!

Agree with every word said

There are those who might doubt that cranberry, but thankyou for the kind thoughts anyway.

To retain your sanity you have to have it in the first place…I’m saying nowt! ;-)

(But glad to hear of the progress at last)

Cheeky blighter.

Well done Mups for keeping your cool.
personally i think leylandi should be made illegal in fact i thought there was already some legislation re this dreadful hybrid.
I have been through all this with my less than obliging neighbours .
Relax now and pour yourself a large glass of Harveys Bristol cream ( or whatever your tipple is) you deserve it

Thanks Muddy. I’ll have a really LARGE glass after the tree men have finished Wednesday, once I know it’s not a dream.

The tree men have been and gone.
I can now see daylight out there. The dreaded Conifers have g-o-n-e - Yippeeeeeeeeeeee …

I’m a happy bunny today. Just waiting for the Walnut to go now, and see what the monitoring reveals. But it’s a start.

:023:

Wonderful news, Mups, I bet you’re dancing in the street !!

Job well done Mup! I expect it will take a while for you to get used to the gap now

Slight disappointment. I thought they had taken out 3 of the conifers, but after they had gone, I went out the front to get in my car and found one huge conifer 1 METRE from my living room window has been left standing!
What a stooopid place to plant a flippin’ tree in the first place!!

I phoned the insurance straightaway and asked why that one had not been removed, and was told they had only taken the two out which were proven to damage my property at the back. They have written to the neighbour and “advised” him to take the front one down in order to avoid possible future damage.
I’d be willing to put money on it that he won’t do a damn thing though. Apparently if he ignores it, and it does do further damage to my property, they can then make him liable because he has had a written warning to deal with it.
I said it was crazy because that one is much closer than the ones they’ve taken out, but they said that being as at the moment they haven’t found any evidence of damage to the front of my property, only the back, it can stay. To which I said well expect a further claim in due course then!

Crazy !!! Why don’t they act rather than react? A stitch in time an’ all that… Can never understand why anyone would plant trees, especially conifers, so close to a house, must be mad !!

I am so annoyed cranberry. Now it seems I have got to sit and wait for yet another tree to cause more damage before they will act. Penny pinching insurances, I’m sick to death of 'em.
The bloke next door is probably the laziest man in England, he will have no intention of cutting that tree down, even though he knows he will be liable for damage now.
I wonder what happens if a claim for liability was put in place against him later, and he has no insurance cover? Bit like suing an uninsured driver perhaps?
I am also worried what all this might do to my premiums.

You’d think he’d be worrying about the effect the conifers would have on his own property, I know I would.
You must be so sick of it all…

He’s bone idle cranberry. He’s probably about half my age and won’t do a thing to his property or garden. If he’s not concerned about his own property, he sure won’t be concerned about mine. :frowning:

I think the young ones can be so lazy, I can’t understand 'em, the house is their biggest investment and they seem so unconcerned at times.

I agree cranberry.
This is one of the rare occasions when I wish I had someone fighting in my corner for me.

How about this then - two men have just been here to do the first monitoring of any movement in the walls.
All round where the worst damage is, has hardly moved, so that is good so far.
BUT, the tree I asked them to deal with (and they refused), the one that is 1 metre from my living room window, they just discovered my bay window next to it has significantly moved!!!
I shall be delighted to do an “I told you so” soon . . . idiots.

And breathe…You couldn’t make up this farce. Although I’m mildly impressed that they are out on Christmas Eve to monitor.

Put yer feet up and try to forget it all over Christmas.
