Damaged my Camcorder on the 14th April

@realspeed
Sent an email to a repairer on the 15th of April.
Dropped it on concrete and knocked the zoom ring out of whack.
Needed replacing.
Today, 57 days later, I collected the repaired Camera.
The damaged part cost $38. Total cost $418.
Now I will need to read the operators manual again as I have forgotten what I learnt.

You could consider getting a bag for it. I bought one of these from Amazon when it was on special for $23 but even at $30 it is a lot cheaper than a camera repair.

It holds my camcorder, my compact camera and all their accessories like charger, spare batteries and cables, spare SD Cards and could still hold more, well worth the money.

It has adjustable padded sections a front pocket and a pocket in the top cover as well as a strap. It is very sturdy but not too big.

Thank you for your advice. I think I do need a dedicated carry bag. For safety and keeping everything together.

I was surprised how much this bag holds and it is not full by a long chalk. It protects the contents much better than the bag I was using before and slides under the car seat,

If you don’t like the Amazon Basics badge it looks like it would be easy to unpick from the bag it is just sewn on. I also like the fact that it doesn’t really look like a typical camera bag (they tend to scream “Steal me”). You definitely can’t complain about the price

I was think of 3D printing a cover for the front of the camcorder - to fit over the lens hood, as you can see in the photo I put it in the bag lens down, however the base of the bag is quite rigid but slightly padded so I am not sure if I will bother.

looks a handy bag to have. The only thing is would it be acceptable as a carry on bag in an aircraft. The airlines can be pretty strict on what is allowed to be on a cabin.
I use a Tamrac System 7 bag which can hole the camcorder and a few bits and pieces

Why don’t you think it would be acceptable? it is well within the allowed dimensions, in fact it would fit inside the backpack I take onto a plane as carry on.

Its longest side is less than 30cm (ie 1ft)
