Cryptic Films

Alternative plot ending to video

Orlando

Thanks.
I watched this film the other day and really enjoyed it…

Did telephones contribute to this film?

Belladonna?

No, not that one.
This is a pretty typical cryptic clue to a film from a couple of decades ago. It had a very good ensemble cast one of whom later had a long-running role in a film franchise.

Planet of the Apes?

postman always rings twice

Neither of those. This film is a bit more obscure, despite the cast.

Phone Booth?

No. If it helps, I watched this film on Netflix, I have never seen it on ‘normal’ TV although I imagine it might have been on Film4 some time or other. Thie film includes the aforementioned franchisee, a one-time detective and reporter, an Australian who has never been anything other than brilliant in my experience, a before he was famous actor son of another British actor.

All I can come up with is The Ring.

Not that although \that is what I might have guessed.
As I said earlier, the clue is a typical crossword clue. In particular, an anagram.

Many apologies, I have made a booboo! Amended clue…

Did fifty telephones contribute to this film? (5,9)

Hotel Splendide

From all the clues I’m pretty sure this is right so I’ll post another before I go out:

Not a sow then, Mr Holm?

Pygmalion

Without a smell

Didn’t we already do Roma?

Sorry, I forgot.

Try:

Nothing really.
