A total of 75 further cases of the Covid-19 Omicron variant have been identified in England, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said.

It brings the total number of confirmed cases in England to at least 104 - with some of the newest cases not linked to travel, and instead caught within the community.

Gosh that was quick!

The WHO has also confirmed nobody in the world has died from the Omicron variant either.

I wonder whether this Coronavirus thing is becoming not too dissimilar to flu.

It caused a great deal of trouble and worry initially, but now it seems to becoming something that we shall have to get used to and should take in our stride.

It has been suggested that we shall be obliged to have annual Covid vaccinations from now on because the virus seems to mutate regularly. Haven’t we been offered annual flu vaccinations for the exact same reason: because the flu virus mutates in the same way.

Just as many people died from Covid earlier on, so they did from flu - again killing the older and more frail people than others.

Now how did we react to flu in the past (and still do). Recommendations, for example, that we just take to our beds until it passes - and avoid spreading it when we are aware that we have contracted it. Shouldn’t we do something similar for Covid now and in the future?

Does anyone agree that this is the likely outcome?

Yep.
The idea in the mind of the virus is to infect as many people as it can, so when initially people keep dying it thinks to itself this isn’t working, so it mutates and becomes less deadly and more infectious each time so that more people can get infected.
Job :heavy_check_mark: done!
