Covid-19 Vaccinations

:023:

OK. My first jab was about four weeks ago with no ill effects whatsoever. A few neighbours have minor discomfort for a day or so.

Pleased to hear you didnā€™t suffer any ill effects after your jab, Besoekerā€¦

Nearly all my flu jabs have given me a sore arm, but my first Covid jab gave me no pain at all. Throughout the next 24 hours I did feel tired with aching muscles, but it soon got better & I am hoping my second jab is similar!

This was a new experience for all of us, so I feel that hearing other peopleā€™s experience has been reassuringā€¦or are all OFF members a tough lot who donā€™t complain?

I suspect we were all a little apprehensive about having this jab but , AFAIK, nobody here has been very ill with it, so I would like to thank Mags for starting the thread!

I know Mups was ill, but she has not yet been given conclusive evidence that the Jab caused the problem. If you decide to have the second jab Mups, perhaps they could send a handsome male nurse to look after you for a few days!

I was very ill with it (AZ). Took me all week to recover. Pfizer is defintely the best one to have for nil side effects. Iā€™ve finally started to feel back to normal today. I donā€™t know anyone personally who has had it so bad but the GP said that some people can have side effects for 7 days. I am one of the unlucky few.

Never had this problem with any vaccine. But I have had a similar problem with one type of antibiotic in the past. Although in the case of that it lasted for a lot longer than a week.

We had the second dose of Pfizer this afternoon no problems so far .

I havenā€™t met anyone who has had side effects from Pfizer.

How do you know that you wouldnā€™t have been ill with the Prizer?

I havenā€™t met anyone who has had side effects from AZ!

Itā€™s not 100% definite of course, but the pfizer side effects in research were confirmed to be minimal and mild compared with AZ. The caveat was for allergy sufferers but anaphylaxis can be treated if you are expecting it.

I knew the difference before I had the vaccine. But you donā€™t get a choice.

I havenā€™t met most of the people I am talking about for a few months! But I have spoken to them

I consider myself very lucky. I had my first jab yesterday morning (Oxford), at Westpoint Arena, East Devon and have had no side effects whatsoever, no symptoms and no aching arm. Last night I felt just a little more tired than usual but it just meant I had a good sleep until 9am. I hope the second one will be the same.

Thatā€™s great LD  The stats are that only 14% have the ill effects for 2 or 3 days. Women are more likely to be affected.

I wonder why that is? As for the painful arm, I am convinced it is down to the person giving the jab. When you think about it, we are all different, with differently shaped arms; getting it in the correct spot each time must be difficult (If there is a correct spot). Perhaps itā€™s just luck?

The sore arm is usually because you have been injected with a foreign body. Itā€™s a local response to an invasion. I always get that and it always feels a bit weird because it doesnā€™t have a centre of pain. When you touch it you can never really locate where the dratted pain sits. I think thatā€™s maybe because the stuff goes in quite deep. Apparently moving your arm around just after a jab helps but I donā€™t fancy testing that theory.

:023: and I hope it continues that way, Vlad.

I donā€™t think thereā€™s a wrong spot in that area. Itā€™s just into a muscle.
Itā€™s not as if youā€™re trying to hit a vein.

No, I think itā€™s just the luck of the draw.
Some people are more sensitive than others.

And some would argue that women just whinge more than men.

NO, NO, NOā€¦ I DIDNā€™T MEAN IT. REALLY, I WAS ONLY JOKING.:shock::shock:

My son had 2 days of feeling fluish after his first AZ jab last Monday, just a bit achy now.

I finally made the effort to ring the local clinic for an appointment for my Covid jab as I am in Phase 1b which commenced on Monday. Apparently it is administered by a nurse not a doctor.

So now I have an appointment on 12 April and the 5th July for the first and second doses.

Easy as!

Wise decision Bruce!

I hope all goes well for you on the dayā€¦
