Bread - just leave it now. Go and look if you are inclined to, or don’t look at all - its up to you. But for the love of Christmas, please stop goading people.
I think everyone feels a bit like this thread at the moment. We don’t know whether we are coming or going and we don’t have all the facts yet. People outside are half heartedly Christmas shopping and stressed to boot. My car was hit by a car on a mini roundabout where I had right of way, in a shopping centre car park because the chap said he was talking to his wife and didn’t see me. This sums up the mood right now. Luckily no real damage to my car but he knocked one of his headlights off. Hopefully in the New Year Omicron will be under control and we can all get back on with normal life.
If someone throws loads of insults at me when I ask for the information they say they have and I just get more insults then its not my problem its theirs.
Omicron is following exactly what happened in South Africa, it spread rapidly then tailed off. For now, the government is doing the smart thing, ignoring Whitty and his worst case scenarios and going with the actual figures that describe the actual situation.
The cases will stay on the downward path, as will serious illness and deaths over Christmas.
Sorry to hear about your motor Annie, I hope those new wiper blades are not going to go to waste…
I agree about the stress levels at this time of year, it’s like walking on eggshells around Mrs Fox, she has so much to do, and with me fresh from the operation, I am unable to drive or help very much. My left arm has to be kept below shoulder height, and definitely no lifting anything heavier that a hot steaming mug of Yorkshire tea.
At least the bloke took responsibility for the shunt, but it’s just the inconvenience of the many phone calls to the insurance and being without a motor for a while until it’s repaired.
Happy Christmas Annie, I can’t remember if I already wished you it, but you can’t have too many wishes can you…
Thanks OGF, the wipers have fortunately gone back to Halfords and they gave me a full refund admitting that their own brand wipers were rubbish. it was like opening a kinder surprise without the chocolate, no instructions no online instructions either. Substandard rubber too.
The chap didn’t want to go down the insurance route, so I was not sure what to do. I felt sorry for him tbh. He said he’d pay for any repair, but looking at it next day it isn’t as bad as I thought just a slight dent on the fiesta and a couple of tiny spots where the paint has been chipped, the new models are pretty sturdy these days.
The worldwide fuss about the virus is just making people so fed up and I am really not sure what to think any more. Just feels surreal that we keep having groundhog day. The good news is that there are signs that Omicron may have peaked so wishing you too a Merry Christmas and a very happy Mrs Fox once she has a chance to put her feet up too!
No it does not .
That’s is why ,please listen carefully OGF people who are unvaccinated can and do get reinfected because natural immunity wanes .
This does apply you too and you are vulnerable so it would be better to stop tempting providence .
Maybe there do but they get it less severely than the unvaccinated .Thos means they are much less likely to be hospitalised or die than people who are not vaccinated
Vaccine breakthrough infections are expected. COVID-19 vaccines are effective at preventing most infections. However, like other vaccines, they are not 100% effective.
Not necessarily, peoples immune response from the vaccines vary enormously and peoples severity of illness varies greatly from person to person - for example, people can end up on ventilators or be asymptomatic.
At the moment, (as I see it), the vaccines are losing the battle. Omicron is spreading among the vaccinated and unvaccinated at the same rates. As it is a mild form of the virus, it’s not clear how severity of illness across all age groups is impacted (people don’t die of Omicron or end up in hospital as we saw in South Africa and now are seeing here). To me, this means that the vaccines are way behind the curve now compared to the evolution of the virus. It’s a bit like having McAfee Antivirus on version 1.0 while COVID has mutated to be on version 200. Omicron is not as potent as the initial virus but people are not protected by the vaccines in the same way either … which is a good thing and in-line with the lifecycle of novel viruses. We saw it with SARS and MERS before.
If you believe the studies in Denmark, the vaccines didn’t actually work at all anyway or were nowhere near as effective as we were lead to believe - a very strong possibility looking at infection rates.
It’s over for COVID, this is the end of it, unless the CCP unleash another deadly version on the world (which is also possible).
