COVID-19 - Omicron: 247,000 confirmed cases of the variant now reported across the UK

I don’t care whether anyone believes it or not, I know from personal experience.
I just hope that people won’t keep making excuses and burying their heads in the sand Omah. They need to open their eyes and ask questions and be more objective.

The term “unvaccinated” is very misleading.

It can mean someone who hasn’t had the vaccines at all (for example, they are immunodeficient or taking immuno-depressants) … or someone who has had the vaccines but the efficacy of the vaccines is so low they are the same risk level as someone who hasn’t had a vaccine at all - i.e. unvaccinated.

It’s very convenient for the government to use these stats to coerce people into a medical procedure.

Well, your personal experience, like your opinions, is, obviously, subjective and, of course, limited in scope.

How is his personal opinion subjective ? I thought you were the champion of “lived experience” and all that ?

I just found an excellent article by the ‘American Heart Foundation’ addressing the rise in coronary heart complications associated to the MRnA covid 19 vaccine, but strangely it has been blocked from view. This has happened several times before, so how can I possibly produce information about the dangers of covid vaccine use when they are being deliberately censored?

I can’t find “American Heart Foundation” … :017:

Exactly, I posted this a couple of days ago on the other thread before people were told to cancel me on the thread and then it was locked. The same people who want to fire the disobedient NHS workers and enforce vaccine passports to create a two tier society.

In India, they won’t administer the Pfizer vaccine (to <30 male age group) in India, Finland, Sweden, Iceland, Greece and a whole load of other countries because of myocarditis being detected as a result of the mRNA vaccines.

Coincidentally, there has been a rise in heart disease between 5% and 30% in some countries after the vaccinations were rolled out. It’s hardly surprising that the vaccinated are exercising caution over the booster jab now these statistics are emerging.

But what do the Pharma companies care ? Governments have given them immunity from legal action as a result of serious adverse events and adverse reactions as part of the pandemic recovery. You have to ask yourself, is the drive for booster vaccinations (of mainly mRNA vaccines) to remove any unvaccinated control group to prevent legal action later on ? Maybe, maybe not, but it does make me wonder.

If the Omicron variant is so mild compared to previous strains, then we should stop vaccinations and allow people to get the Omicron variant to build up natural immunity.

The next variant according to the statistics will be like a common cold in severity.

People coming to the UK must show proof of a negative Covid test before they travel, as new rules to limit spread of the Omicron variant come into effect.

Contacts of a suspected Omicron case are already required to self-isolate for 10 days, including the fully vaccinated.

People arriving in the UK already had to self-isolate until they received a negative PCR test on day two after their arrival.

With the introduction of the government’s new measures, all travellers aged 12 and over will have to show proof of a negative PCR or lateral flow test - even if they are fully vaccinated - before setting off.

It must be taken in the two days before departure for the UK and private test providers must be used - so free NHS lateral flow kits are not allowed.

Scientists have raised concerns about how Omicron could interact with current vaccines, given the number and form of the mutations it exhibits.

Better safe than sorry … :+1:

Having just returned from the hospital, I had a chat with one of the nurses and asked her how things were within her department. Obviously very stressful for all concerned, and many swaps of departments to cover staff etc. She (interestingly for a nurse) put forward the thought that the Government knew far more than they were letting on. She has been double jabbed and boosted, so has her family so not an anti-anything, but I just found it curious she would say this.

one would certainly hope that the ONS is showing consistent comparisons of like for like in their information! :grinning:

They’re not comparing - they’re recording.

If the graph you’ve included is illustrate the comparison between Jan 2021 and Dec 2021 then the prevailing conditions are not “like”.

IIRC, the post-Xmas “surge” was caused by BJ relaxing the rules for the “holiday”.

What is a graph if not a comparison over time? They will have cleaned the data to ensure there is no misleading information. The fact is that deaths are very low now compared with this time last year and that’s probably down to the vaccine effort so beyond me why we need a kneejerk reaction and cancelling Christmas etc.

We are planning a big family Christmas this year. We are all double/even triple jabbed for some plus flu so I don’t see the fuss about a variant which may or may not be better/worse than the others, spoiling our family gathering. I could understand last year when there was no vaccine but we are now in a different place. As everyone here knows I am pro vaccine and not a covid denier. Therefore if I feel like this it’s going to be the majority view. I agree we should still wear masks in public places and that should not have been lifted but all the other fuss is a waste of time, stopping people travelling will make not a jot of difference.

You’re overcomplicating what is a simple fact. Deaths have fallen sharply despite people mingling far more than last year.

Your plans are your choice.

Cases are rampant:

The estimated percentage of people living in private households (not in hospitals, care homes and/or other communal establishments) that had COVID-19 in the most recent week was:

  • 1.65% in England (1 in 60 people), compared with 1.58% (1 in 65 people) the week before
  • 2.11% in Wales (1 in 45 people), compared with 1.95% (1 in 50 people) the week before
  • 2.24% in Northern Ireland (1 in 45 people), compared with 2.03% (1 in 50 people) the week before
  • 1.58% in Scotland (1 in 65 people), compared with 1.44% (1 in 70 people) the week before

It’s unlikely that numbers will go down in the foreseeable future.

cases … not deaths or hospitalisation

The upside is more people will get natural immunity without the need for medical treatment. People will also realise the hysteria over this is purely driven by the media and socialists

As I’ve posted before, and Annie has also mentioned at least twice, Omicron seems to be no more dangerous than a common cold. This panic is all being driven by absolute nutters now, imho.

I’m not sure it’s equivalent to the common cold but we don’t seem any more likely to die from it than from delta etc. Particularly when vaccinated. Covid leaves some nasty lasting damage for some but there’s no evidence that Omicron leads to more severe illness or long covid than the other strains.
