Coronavirus

Anne I don’t think European Airlines will be happy flying what could be almost empty aircraft with half a dozen US citizens to the USA, they will suggest they transfer to flights here.

As long as they keep themselves to Heathrow, and the rest of us avoid the place like the plague!

From a Two Ronnies sketch

Hi Tessa  the county figures do not necessarily reflect the current situation as we have found locally.

Say a person works in Somerset and lives in Wiltshire or Devon and tests positive for the virus they could have infected people in Somerset but will be included in the figures for the county in which they live.

Someone who tested positive for the virus works in the job centre in Worcester but they live over the county border so are not included in the figures for Worcestershire

Not good enough JB, they could still infect the staff at Heathrow who may work at Heathrow but live and travel all over the UK.

Perhaps the Don will send them a private jet?

Appropriate imo, but l may be out of date?

Hi

We have an artificially low number of cases due to our very limited testing, which even with the recent announced increase, is still much lower than other Countries.

We are being systematically lied to by the Government.

We are not well placed to deal with it at all.

We cannot even deal with normal A&E emergencies.

The NHS will not get what it needs, there is no Magic Wand.

The UK has a third of the number of Hospital Beds that Germany has.

Sod the virus, look at what a business opportunity it is for uk!!!

Donkeyman!

I think the deaths to number of cases ratio seem about right to
me Swimmy

Donkeyman!

It used to be true, to an extent.

Of course, the last time I had a holiday at Butlitz I was a young child. I remember very little, but from what I do remember it was like ‘Hi Di Hi’.

I agree, and according to this table (below) our testing and positive outcomes compare well with many other countries.

This is the source of the table provided and includes far more information:

Got to keep the income, from his golf courses ,etc., rolling in!

Your usual very negative analysis of the situation.

I assume that our Government must confer with you in every tight situation, considering how much you claim to know!.

I’m one of your “Stupid” ones who thinks that the government is putting on a sensible balanced program, given the circumstances, and the speed of contamination.

I, also, think that the situation has been made much much worse by the way the media has rushed into it.

Other Countries might appear better, by shutting everything down, but we’ll have to wait & see.

From my perspective the Gov is doing it at the right speed - and life is carrying on until circumstances make the need for something else.

I suggest that Boris gets you in, to run the show, as you seem to be the expert above all others.

Well said, Ted. :023:

Do you remember the OP of this thread was, will high speed
trains and air travel encourage the spread of corona from china
to the rest of the planet??
Well we have the answer now!
Just think if we had isolated all our citizens on holidays etc in
china at the time in china. And banned All flights from china then
all that is happening now would be unneccassry?
You would still be able to travel anywhere but China?
Airlines would not be at risk of bankrupcy?
All the countries under lockdown would be still thriving?
Hundreds of old geezers would still be alive?
Who was responsible for the decision to repatriate citizens to
their native countries, was it one person, or was it acollective
decision?
What considerations caused them to make this decision?
Any answers!
Donkeyman!

I like your thinking Donks. I think the rest of the world didn’t do this in fear of losing their source of cheap products (and fear of permanently peeing off the Chinese government).

Think theres a lot in that Percy?

Donkeyman!

A political decision then aPercy, not a practical one!

{shrug} Dunno, mate. I’m not privy to what goes on in the upper echelons of world politics.

A tenth person has died today .
Look people we have to take this seriously because we are in the main in the most vulnerable group .
