Coronavirus

Soap and plenty of water always works.

Perhaps they would be saved by thoughts and prayers, divine intervention raises nutters from the dead and can penetrate even the finest tin foil.

The Foreign Office have urged all British Nationals to leave and will provide an aircraft from Wahon to Brize Norton on Sunday morning .

A cruise liner has confirmed cases onboard!

Oh dear. It still seems to be going a pace doesn’t it.
I haven’t heard any more cases here - so far - but I perhaps shouldn’t say that.

(Better touch wood quick).

Mups the information coming from an expert late tonight on Sky News was all stops are being pulled out to stop this becoming a worldwide pandemic .
Just imagine too being on that cruise ship?
About ten cases confirmed.

A doctor in Wuhan has leaked that there are far more deaths than reported.

I don’t doubt it for a minute .

Blimey, that’s a bit scary.

The World Health Organisation has advised against trade and travel restrictions against China amid the coronavirus outbreak that has so far killed at least 425 people and infected more than 20,000.

The news comes as Hong Kong reported its first coronavirus death on Tuesday (local time), the second death outside of mainland China.

Meanwhile on Christmas Island:

Australians evacuated from the coronavirus epicentre of Wuhan say they have been greeted with cockroaches in their bedrooms and poor internet connections on their first night of quarantine on Christmas Island.

There are 240 Australian citizens and permanent residents currently being housed in the island’s detention centre, among them 84 children under 16 and five infants under two.

They may soon be joined by more evacuees, and will spend two weeks at the near-empty detention centre in a restricted “isolation area”.

They do however get to see the famous Christmas Island red crabs.

A Belgian woman who has tested positive for the coronavirus was on board the same flight that brought back UK citizens from China on Sunday, Belgium’s health agency has said.

Perhaps I’m too optimistic but I have faith in our UK systems. I don’t think we will see an epidemic here.

What are those Annie ?

This must be a nightmare scenario ,confined to your cabin for 14 days

Can’t gett that link to work Zuleiker? Can you try it please?

I found it!

At the start of this thread l suggested that any tourists or others
presently in china should be left there untill they have spent the
required amount of time needed to ensure that they are not carriers
of the virus?
This has not been done, with the now unfolding consequences we
see taking place world wide!!
We may very well get away with it this time, but the time WILL come
when a really dangerous infectious disease breaks out somewhere
and if we react the way we are at present the outcome may not be
so favourable??
Donkeyman!

Seems common sense to me too, Donkeyman.

While it might well sound sensible in your head how would it be possible to put it into practice ?

A friend of mine is working on laying down foundations for a purpose built hospital for Corona virus sufferers in Scarborough!!! They must be expecting a real epidemic. Its all quite worrying.

Never mind flying them back here they should have been left in isolation over there.

We have really good emergency planning for disasters in the UK. So when there is a disaster all the agencies will work together to protect the public.

It must be terrible to be on that ship. Poor people. It’s so tragic to go on a holiday of a lifetime and find yourself trapped in a nightmare.

Why ? Why would you want British people to stay there ?
There are only 2 confirmed cases here, the Chinese people from York , who are in a Newcastle isolation hospital.
Why would anyone imagine a place being built was because an epidemic is expected rather that an isolation place similar to the one in The Wirral for isolation purposes of any coming in on flights ? The former really is scaremongering talk .
