Coronavirus

No you were not ,I wondered exactly the same thing when I saw that scene .

It may have been considered a safety hazard for them to drive in a spacesuit, but you’d have thought they would have taken people in army vehicles with glassed off driver compartments rather than a normal coach. The four horsemen indeed.

A massive over reaction? That must be a comforting thought as you look at all the news coming in from all over the world .
Have you thought on who the two tourists taken from the York hotel might have infected since they landed in the UK and how many they in turn might have passed the virus on to ?

That is what the “R0” or R Naught ratiio is all about.

When the SARS scare was about some years ago the SARS virus began with an R0 of 3 which meant that everyone with SARS was infecting 3 other people. They later got that ratio down to an R0 of just 0.4.

The SARS scare was just that. A scare which only affected a tiny tiny % of the global population.

This Coronavirus is STARTING OUT with an R0 of just 1.5

It is thus way way less of a concern than SARS was and they are already undertaking very significant actions to curtail any further spread so you can expect that the R0 for Coronavirus will soon be much lower.

The truth is very much that this entire episode has been hyped up beyond all proportion for very deliberate reasons.
The virus has a low R0 and even when people do get the virus 97% of people deal with it quite normally and recover well.

You should be more concerned about getting pneumonia or any of a number of other everday condition which kill THOUSANDS every year. Coronavirus has only killed just over 100 people and doubtless many of those were already old and infirm people with poor immune systems who might just as easily have died from a cold or flu.

It’s all a storm in a teacup which will blow over very soon.

Be more worried about why it happened in the first place and where it came from imo.

It’s 2.5 -3 according to reports I’ve seen including the initial Imperial study reported on the radio. They are still collecting information, but hopefully the transmission rate will fall over time as people take precautions and eventually it will die out. All such outbreaks can be contained in managed effectively with good team work and a sensible approach.

I take it you aren’t planning to expose yourself to this in order to boost your immunity as you’ve advised us to do previously with other bugs?

Realist I watched the ITV programme about it the other night in which there were two guys from the UK speaking directly from Wuhan living and working out there , not old people, infirm with poor immune systems who said they had decided they were definitely leaving for good.

Reports cary.

The WorldHealth Organisation puts it thus:

“Human-to-human transmission is occurring and a preliminary R0 estimate of 1.4-2.5 was presented”

Moronic statement

What I have always advised people to do is ensure their own immune systems are in tip top condition by eating the right foods, staying away from toxic foods and staying away from proven uesless vaccinations. I’ve also highlighted numerous times the importance of allowing your body to run it’s natural fever cycle which is a prime defense mechanism and not to take paracetamols, neurofens or aspirins which force a fever down.

I’m not worried about getting the virus. 97% of people deal with it perfectly happily. I have antiviral natural medications if necessary and plenty of herbs of varying kinds. But thanks for your concern.

No, you did not imagine it at all Donkeyman.
I just heard on the news as I was driving home that the WHO advised those coach drivers that no protection was necessary, as it was ‘Low Risk.’

The coach has since been disinfected with special virus stuff.

I must ask this though - How come they felt the need to disinfect the entire coach, yet not offer the poor drivers any protection???

If I was a driver, I would have refused to do it, and if I lost my job then so be it.

Incidentally, it also said today that one of the two sick people was a student from York University.

A tiny % of the global population ? 1% of the global population would be aprox 70,000,000 people.

If 97 % of the people handled it very well that mans 3 % would be sickened unto death. That is 2,100,000 dead. I’d say that was plenty of reason to take extreme measures to isolate and control the coronavirus.
In the U.S., with only 5 known cases, already there has been one proven person-to-person transmission.

Your link doesn’t work, but a) you said 1.5 and b) other research teams have since come up with a higher estimate. It is likely to change over the course of the outbreak and let’s hope it does come down.

I take it that’s a “no”? ;-)

Our boy, currently living in Oz, has been skyping, advising us on the best mask to buy, goggles too, sent this link …

The good news … it’s levelling out, fizzling out, hopefully.

EDIT you might have to click Trends at the bottom to see what I mean about levelling out.

Sky News @ midnight wasn’t good .

and
They’re trying to trace who the two in the York Hotel might have been in contact with .

How do you know if I haven’t already had it?

I had a cold/flu like bout just after Christmas coming off a cruise. Pretty typical stuff from such an environment of 1000s of people in one confined place. No issues.
A sore throat for 24 hrs, dry tickly cough for the following 1-2 weeks and so on. Probably had a raised temperature too and fast heart beat.

All very much par for the course with such bugs.

Of course I didn’t feel the need to report this to anyone. I never do. I don’t go rushing to my local GP when I get cold/flu like symptoms.

And neither do millions of other people.

So let’s be truthful here. The actual number of cases of Coronavirus is very likely many many thousands more than are being stated because the only cases being stated are those that have been reported, where people went to their GP.

So the Case Fatality Rate of 2% is likely massively high and thus our chances of dying from this virus are likely much much smaller than 2%. But of course such truths don’t make for good sensationalist TV and don’t support a deliberate media Campaign of Fear which will (I guarantee) lead to the sale of a $billion Coronavirus vaccine (which I have no doubt already exists)

We can expect in the coming months for them to suddenly say that they have magically rushed a vaccine through all the testing cycles that normally take an age and that people can trot off for their Coronavirus shot.

Same old same old.

Campaign of fear to sell pills, potions and vaccines.

But naïve people still fall for it so that business model will continue.

Ha ha ya gotta laugh - as predicted the plane taking Australian citizens from Wuhan has to stop at an RAAF base in WA for them to move to smaller planes for their flight to Christmas Island for two weeks in a detention centre.

The Federal government is not charging them $1000 as mentioned before claiming it was a “miscommunication”.

Non Australians who have been in or transited through mainland China from 1st February have had their visas cancelled. The Government announced anyone who has arrived after the restrictions came into place would be put “in an alternative place of detention for a quarantine period”.

This has had a dramatic effect on arrivals according to the ABC News instead of the normal 5000 arrivals in Melbourne today 700 people arrived.

I don’t think sarcasm or laughter has any place in a discussion about this problem causing worldwide concern .
We already know the usual cold and flu remedies are not going to work against a virus ?
A 38 yr old man had died now in the Philippines .

Hi

Simple fact of life.

If your Immune or Respiratory system is under stress you are far more at risk.

Simple solution, get your Flu Jab.

This isn’t flu !

Quite so.

Almost 300 Australians have left the coronavirus epicentre of Wuhan on a chartered Qantas evacuation flight that will take them to Christmas Island via Western Australia.

The flight, which landed in Wuhan at 1:10am (local time) via Hong Kong, was expected to depart one hour later but experienced delays on the tarmac.

There were issues complicating the flight, including the fact Wuhan airport was closed to regular services.

However delays had been expected and planned for.

Some Australians in Wuhan declined the evacuation, choosing to wait things out rather than accept the indirect route home.

The volunteer crew members would be sealed on an upper deck for most of the flight.

They are there for safety requirements, ie managing doors on departure and arrival, they are all wearing gloves and medical-grade masks.

The plane will be deep cleaned before being returned to normal service.

At the moment Australia has seven confirmed cases of the disease.

Hi

I know that.

Read my post.

If your immune system is compromised or you have respiratory problems you are more likely to be seriously affected by this virus.

A simple Medical Fact.

If you have Flu your immune system is compromised fighting that infection, you also have respiratory problems.

This puts you in the highest risk category.

Simple, basic advise which you choose to ignore.

Your life, your choice.
