For as long as we don’t send the dinghies back to the frogs…
Federal and NSW Parliaments have practised social distancing with all parties agreeing to half the number of members in the chamber at any one time. They have agreed to pairs.
It looked very odd on the news last night
Yesterday Federal Parliament agreed to the stimulus packages after minor amendments with both sides supporting it.
The legislation supports both the first coronavirus economic stimulus package, worth $17.6 billion, and the $66 billion in direct financial support announced in the second package on the weekend.
It also includes a raft of other measures to support the economy more broadly, as well as giving the Government flexibility to respond to changing circumstances without needing further legislation.
Under pressure from Labor and the Greens, the Coalition amended its own legislation to give the social services minister the power to make changes to the stimulus payments, including rates, means testing, eligibility and residency requirements.
City of San Diego gets tough.
San Diego has closed down all parks, beaches, boardwalks, and trails. This is in response to the thousands of young people who choose to not self-isolate. Essentially, they have been saying, “To hell with anyone else. I’ll do what I damn well please.”
1st offence, a written warning.
2nd offense, a $1,000 USD fine
3rd offense, 6 months in jail.
6 months in County jail will do those young punks a world of good.
Tasmania is moving into a hardline stance about who can enter the state, shutting down the Trans-Tasman ferry line, the TT line, to all but “essential travellers” and Tasmanian residents.
It has had six more cases, bringing the total number of people diagnosed to 28.
Four of those six had been on the Ruby Princess, which was allowed to dock in Sydney last week. Another person had been on another cruise ship, the Celebrity Solstice, which was also able to dock in Sydney. The sixth had travelled overseas.
There is NO community transmission – as yet.
But the lockdown is getting more serious.
May I just take a moment to lighten the mood for us all?
I heard a few days back, that a young man was intending to propose to his girlfriend during a romantic trip to Iceland, (the place) but their trip was cancelled.
The starry eyed young fella was determined to still do his proposal though, so took his lady to Iceland (the shop) instead, and got down on one knee in the middle of the shopping aisle.
She said she could hardly stop laughing, but happily accepted.
I thought that was lovely.
Coronavirus early warning
The U.S. Surgeon General said today that for many people, who have the virus, the 1st thing they noticed was a loss of smell and or taste.
Please, if that should happen to you. call your GP.
Strangely enough those are the 2 symptoms I noticed last November that lasted a few days but I didn’t have a cold. It was something weird that caused bouts of bad shivering , cough , fatigue sending me back into my bed after an hour or so after getting up feeling like something had passed but it hadn’t and a feeling like you were struggling through pea soup at times .I live alone so it didn’t matter that I spent a lot of time in bed .
There were no bodily aches .
After Christmas I met people who had had the same thing .it began to be known as the five week cough because of the length of time it lasted . Several people had rung their GP’s practice but had been told it was “just a virus “that would pass …

In Australia they are predicting that 1 million people will be unemployed and that house prices could drop 20% before this is over. You have to feel for young people who have just taken on a mortgage.
Queensland will shut its borders to everyone who is isn’t entering the state for work, medical appointments or to deliver freight.
All other visitors will be turned away from midnight tonight as the state ramps up its response to the coronavirus outbreak.
It follows a similar move by Tasmania earlier today.
Border travel will be policed in an RBT-style with officers stationed to determine who needs to cross and allowing them through quickly.
I wrote earlier about [post=1876306] the businesses that could remain open (message #2124)[/post], here is the list of “non-essential” businesses that must close:
Pubs
Clubs
Cinemas
Casinos
Nightclubs
Indoor places of worship
Gyms
Indoor sporting venues
At this stage, businesses such as hairdressers and beauticians can stay open if they comply with social-distancing guidelines — as challenging as that may be ie 4sq metres per person.
Restaurants and cafes can continue cooking if they offer takeaway, and other businesses will need to adjust.
That will be up to the People of London to decide and not you.
Hi
I see Sports Direct are saying they will stay open.
I hope they get a right kicking.
Purely profit over health.
I also saw this information given by the Director General of the WHO but he described those symptoms saying these people could be carriers and wouldn’t realise they had the virus.
Yes - I agree. You have to do the best you can in the circumstances and that young showed us that. I wish someone had taken a video.
Oh dear! Only 6.05 am and it already looks like being a bad hair day for you!:shock::shock:
Deaths up to 16K from 10K two weeks ago.
Not funny anymore is it
Lost it again
I don’t like the look of that Recovery Rate graph! 90% for one week in February and now it’s 1.66% - ouch!
A real sign of how the NHS has been stripped back to scarcely the bare essentials.
Germany 30K cases one hundred + deaths
UK 6K cases 353 deaths.
