Covid-19: Household mixing ban for Wigan, Stockport and Blackpool
Wigan’s weekly infection rate rose to 107 cases per 100,000 on 20 Sep. Stockport had 71 cases per 100,000 in the same week and Blackpool had 70.
Similar rules are already in place across Greater Manchester and the rest of Lancashire.
Covid-19: Lockdowns for Cardiff, Swansea and Llanelli
It means 1.5 million people, about half of Wales’ population, will be under lockdown by the end of the weekend. The restrictions will be the same as those already affecting people living in Merthyr Tydfil, Bridgend, Blaenau Gwent, Newport, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Caerphilly.
Well, I come within Stockport but a ‘household mixing ban’ really doesn’t bother me; I don’t go out and mix much anyway and, best of all, it will keep the mother-in-law away!

Telford venue fined £10,000 over 120-guest wedding party
Police said were called to the venue in Stafford Park, Telford at 16:55 BST on Friday. Under government guidelines, weddings are allowed to have a maximum of 30 guests, reduced to 15 from Monday. West Mercia Police said it would not be naming the venue, as is its standard when issuing fines. Chief Supt Paul Moxley said it was “unacceptable that a minority of people are continuing to disregard the rules”. He said all of the guests left the venue after police attended, therefore they received no fixed penalty notices.
IMO, I think the police should have the authority to “bang up” all such guests for the night (in the venue, if possible) and charge them for their release in the morning … :!:
Not a ‘travellers’ wedding, then?
Unlikely - no reports of a fight …
As “predicted”:
Coronavirus: People are ‘bubbling out of pubs’ due to curfew
Concerns have been raised by both businesses and community groups that the new curfew encourages customers to all leave at once and to carry on drinking together at one person’s home.
Brewer and pub chain Greene King told the BBC: “Without the usual slow ‘wind-down’ time that pubs would see with a gradual closure, customers were all leaving at once which presented more of a challenge for the pub teams managing people’s safety on exiting the premises. We have also seen examples of people leaving our pubs to buy alcohol in shops to drink elsewhere,” its statement said.
The boss of the Wetherspoon pub chain has also questioned the introduction of the 22:00 curfew. Tim Martin said on Tuesday: “The main problem with the 22:00 curfew is that it’s another random and arbitrary move by the government, which lacks logic or scientific credibility.” He said that it would reduce sales for “hard-pressed” pubs and restaurants, while also increasing “the level of unsupervised socialising” at home and elsewhere.
As far as I can see it wasn’t, nor can I confirm that it was an Asian wedding. Either way the organisers deserve to have that fine slapped on them. They knew the rules and either broke them themselves or deliberately allowed them to be broken.
The point I was trying to make is that the police know better than to target ‘certain protected types of people’!
Hi
Not here JBR.
I’m very pleased to hear it.
However, although the article is not specific, I suspect that these people were not the ‘certain protected types of people’ I had in mind!

Coronavirus: Up to £10,000 fine for failure to self-isolate in England
Anyone who tests positive for Covid-19, or has been told they have been in contact with someone who has, now has a legal duty to quarantine.
You have been warned … :!:
Hi
West Mercia Police do not comment on Race.
Locally, it is known who they were and they were not white Anglo Saxons.
West Mercia has a number of Inspectors and above who are not White Anglo Saxons and as such are immune from being accused of being Racist.
Pressure mounts on government to review ‘shambolic’ 10pm curfew after drinkers crowd streets at closing time
Crowds have been seen gathered each night in English cities after the curfew came into force, with long queues forming for public transport and off licences as many drinkers continued their night in each other’s homes after pubs closed.
Sacha Lord, night-time economy adviser for Greater Manchester, said: “It’s very clear, across the UK, that this ill-thought-out 10pm curfew, has pushed everyone out of venues with socially distanced measures, into the streets, into off-licences, supermarkets, overcrowded public transport and house parties. Every operator predicted this. Shambolic.”
Culture secretary Oliver Dowden insisted there was “definitely science” behind the curfew, despite a scientist advising the government saying he had “never heard” the measure discussed at Sage meetings.
That’s another fine mess that the government’s got itself into … :!:
No, of course. No-one dare comment on race these days!
As they have senior officers who are non-white, I’m surprised that they still avoid arresting the ‘certain protected types of people’!
