Yes, Leia, but they did not have a Registrar present, so under GB law, they are not married.
Phelan story line = how much longer can the script writers drag this boring story line out = yawn yawn yawn yawn.
I cannot watch anymore, have lost interest.
I think the problem with Corrie (and other soaps) is that they keep increasing the number of weekly episodes, which forces writers to keep coming up with more characters and more extended, tangled plot lines to fill the airtime and produce a cliffhanger ending for each episode.
I used to enjoy watching Corrie when only two episodes a week were screened. When they extended it to 3, I thought they were pushing it a bit - when it increased to 5 (and now 6) I noticed a marked drop in standard of script quality, plot and character believability, as they scraped the barrel for ideas.
In addition, whilst I used to enjoy watching it for half an hour, twice a week, I think the current scheduling of two split half hours, three times a week is too time consuming to watch all the episodes.
I still watch it if I’m at home and not busy - and the plots move so slowly, it’s easy to catch up if you only see one episode a week!
And … what’s with the living captive bodies in the basement? The believability of this one escapes me.
Is he going to be stuffing them in there like Room 101.
First Andy … and soon Daniel? Who next?
Must be costing Phelan a bomb in food. At this rate He’ll need to get a cheaper deal with the nearest fast food delivery outlet.
I must admit Mort, I also think the captive Andy has gone on long enough now.
Has Phelan kidnapped Daniel as well now then? I missed a coupel of episodes.
Why is Daniel down there in the first place, anyway?
There are so many unanswered questions in how Phelan could possibly keep a person chained up in a cellar, and how Adam and Todd could possibly earn a living out of their partnership running a bent solicitors office, how are the girls from the factory surviving now they’re out of work, and why do I rush to wash the pots on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings so I can sit down and watch it……God only knows…One of me favourite Beachboys songs by the way…
I don’t mind watching those storylines.
However, the ones I find boring are the ‘pointless padding’, the ‘obligatory PC content’ and, most of all, the two puffs kissing each other at every opportunity.
He’s still running lose on borrowed time as yet Mups.
But Phelan has his evil eye on him as he’s a journalist/come waiter … snooping about over that dodgy building scam.
Phelan is threatening the little old mother of his accomplice who legged it too.
Doubtless soon we’ll see him kidnapping her and taking her to the basement too … probably a sterling idea. Andy looks badly in need of a good housekeeper and maternal figure in his desperate life.
Sorry Mort, I meant why is Andy down there in the first place, not Daniel.
It has gone on so long, I’ve forgotten why he is there.
Now you’ve got me scratching me head …
I stopped watching it for a while and when I restarted I was amazed to find Andy alive and kicking and a prisoner in the basement. Mups, you’re not alone at been in the dark.
I think … ? ? … Phelan hit him over the head with a laptop around last Christmas or spring after an argument? Andy was unconscious? Presumed dead? I thought he was dead.
Phelan hit him because Andy knew Phelan had something to do with Michael’s death ( that was Gail’s chap) … are you with me so far as I’m struggling here meself …
The confrontation was because Andy was threatening to go to the police because he was tired of Phelan blackmailing him into committing crimes.
He was been blackmailed because Andy had attacked Phelan and put him in hospital but Phelan had not told the police he knew Andy was his attacker.
I’ve confused myself now and made a right pig’s ear of that.
The damn scriptwriters should have kept it simple and kept Andy dead.
I also know who his next victim is and its not Daniel!
I also know something about Anna Windass! shhh i’m not telling though.
No, don’t say any more susie.
I won’t.
Go on. Say some more, Susie.
The Phelan stuff is unbelievable, I have a bald head, and mine is far less resilient.
I have taken to taken to taping Corrie Street - that way I fast forward through the Phelan scenes. Its gone on too long and just makes me yawn now.
Sounds about right to me Morty……Didn’t the laptop Phelan whacked Andy over the head with have some footage from the CCTV installed at Kevin’s garage when Andy set it on fire?..
It’s not representative of normal life, not round here anyway. Okay, we accept that Todd and Billy are Gay, isn’t that enough? Tongues are not necessary……Actually, I haven’t seen members of the opposite sex kiss nearly as often on the street…
My point exactly.
I have no problem with homosexuals of either gender, in fact I have seen some very fanciable lesbians.
I also know some homosexual men and I can assure you that I have never seen any of them kissing each other.
My beef is with people trying to push these things down our throats for PC reasons. The example on Coronation Street becomes boring after appearing in just about every episode.
Having said that, to be honest I don’t think they seem to be doing it much now. Either they’ve gone off each other, or perhaps some viewers have been complaining.
The producers and writers are, I am in no doubt, doing all they can to push what are quite probably their own proclivities. But then, viewing figures (= money) is, I am sure, more important to them at the end of the day.
