Sad news - R.I.P. Tony Warren.
Sad indeed. I remember watching a documentary about how he first had the idea and brought it to fruition. A bit of an uphill struggle, I believe.
Kudos to him for what he created. The characters were so real years ago. But I wonder if he was disappointed with how it has evolved in recent years.
True. It is heavily PC these days, and continues to expand its remit to include every minority imaginable.
If this goes on, the traditional white English people of Coronation Street will soon form a minority all of its own!
Enjoying the evil Phelans storylines.
Me too flowerpower. Hasn’t he got one of those faces you just want to smack!
Worry not. He’ll get his comeuppance!
After 50 years of watching Coronation Street, I have learnt to forecast what will happen next!
Used to be a bit of humour in Corrie, not so nowadays, so much for the oppressed minorities, what about the Depressed Majority.
I was looking at Todd Grimshaw tonight and suddenly realised that his scar was missing - the one that was supposed to disfigure him for life.
Isn’t it wonderful what these plastic surgeons can do?
Well spotted!!
Just watching Florizel Street this evening, when my first wife announced that it’s becoming boring lately. Just as PC, of course, but sadly lacking in excitement.
The most interesting thing was when Councillor Metcalf arranged for a council inspector’s visit to one of her neighbours. I couldn’t contain my excitement.
I hope for some improvement before long.
it’s going downhill for sure!
Yes, I remember the old B&W days when Len Fairclough would end up in a fight with some other bloke almost every episode, and Ena Sharples would commit GBH on some poor sap with the sharp edge of her tongue.
Ah, the good old pre-PC days!
you could write the script these days, always know what’s coming next!
I have watched Corrie for approx 40 years and am now getting totally bored with it.
The storylines are weak. Some of the actors are rubbish and I hate the way they have to be PC and introduce an Asian family who can’t act at all. Not one of them!
Of course this Asian family are fine upstanding pillars of the community, running a community initiative, keeping chickens, running a gym etc. And of course they all integrate fully with the other residents.
That is usually not the case, as Asians prefer to socialise with their own community.
Where are the young Asian lads driving around dealing drugs and chasing teenage girls?
I was looking at liz’s face the other night , it’s getting fuller and fatter and I think far too much botox is being injected in to it , has anyone else noticed ?
I read the other day that the producer is looking at bringing back old, OLD characters. I forget who…Bet Gilroy may be one of them, as I remember reading the article with absolute dread!!
Just bring in someone decent. I agree the Asian family add nothing to the show: granny can’t act and I don’t like looking at the faces of the old man or the young boy. And I’m struggling to understand what the Down’s Syndrome boy brings to it? What was the point? To score a point?
I agree. All this PC nonsense adds nothing to the programme other than to tick boxes.
That’s all well and good if they’re trying to attract praise from the do-gooders, but it’s not going to attract audiences looking for an interesting and sometimes exciting serial.
I do thing the producers of this programme have lost their way. It could be so much better and I really do hope that someone with a bit of sense comes in and takes over.
Tim’s face on over hearing Sally’s bragging in the Bistro!!
I rather like dopey Tim.
Don’t know how he puts up with Sally sometimes.
