They’re made of water drops or ice crystals. So they reflect the light?

Thanks for that butterscotch, I had a sort of inkling that it was something to do with passage of light through different materials. Different coloured clouds can be the result of fine particles picked up when the moisture is lifted into the atmosphere on the rising warm air. A good example of this is when we sometimes get sand from the Sahara being deposited on vehicles here in England after the rain.
