Fair enough, if you’re going to do a cover version, at least make it a bit different than the original, but in my opinion, Rolf’s version is bobbins.
Very few covers are better than the original unless they are so radically different they transcend being covers.

I wonder how many people don’t like Rolf’s version because of what he did…But how do we know that Beethoven or Bach didn’t touch a few people up? And would it detract from their music if they did?..
Although Gary Glitters music was sh$te anyway.

This is a good one.I think.

Heart.

What any artists did, or didn’t do, in their private lives has no bearing on whether I like or still appreciate their work.
I played Gary Glitter’s greatest hits album the other day, there must be at least 10-15 great pop songs on there, I still got enjoyment out of the music I remembered hearing when I was a teenager.
If other people want to deny themselves the pleasure of music in their lives, because of someone else’s dubious sexual activities, that’s up to them.
Music is one of the few pleasures I have in my life and nobody is taking it from me.

Well said boomer, do we actually know anyone really, it would be a sad old life if we boycotted everyone who didn’t live up to our standards.

Sometimes people cross a line…
None of us are perfect but!
I saw Gary Glitter live at The Lyceum many moons ago.
He was an excellent entertainer, showman and crowd pleaser.

Could I listen to his music now? No… it’s just about how I feel.
