Chris Rhea Has Died Aged 74

Brilliant musician with unforgettable songs that I don’t get fed up with hearing, not even his Christmas song when it gets played every other hour. We’ll never know how many people, apart from the two of us, were just driving home for Christmas while listening to this song which nearly had never been released. Poor chap who had to take 34 pills a day due to various medical issues. He can rest assured that he’ll leave his songs to his daughters something he’d been concerned about. RIP, Chris.

Chris Rea with his instantly recognisable voice, truly one of the great singer songwriters.
This Info made me smile , he took and passed the driving test in his dad’s ice cream van .

Let’s dance . X

My other half came from around Middlesborough…I can remember he was held in high regard in that neck of the woods! :+1:

And he’d lost his driving licence temporarily while his Christmas song was being released.

Like Led Zep and Stairway to Heaven. They are haunted by that song.

It’s a damn good song …

R.I.P Chris Rhea.

I liked Rolf’s version better d00d…

Oh my … is that with his wibbly wobbly board.

Fair enough, if you’re going to do a cover version, at least make it a bit different than the original, but in my opinion, Rolf’s version is bobbins.
Very few covers are better than the original unless they are so radically different they transcend being covers.

I wonder how many people don’t like Rolf’s version because of what he did…But how do we know that Beethoven or Bach didn’t touch a few people up? And would it detract from their music if they did?..
Although Gary Glitters music was sh$te anyway.

This is a good one.I think.

Heart.

Brilliant Mr Smith…I love ‘Heart’ and when we get all of this Christmas nonsense out of the way, I will bung it through the BIG speakers…100w x 2

What any artists did, or didn’t do, in their private lives has no bearing on whether I like or still appreciate their work.
I played Gary Glitter’s greatest hits album the other day, there must be at least 10-15 great pop songs on there, I still got enjoyment out of the music I remembered hearing when I was a teenager.
If other people want to deny themselves the pleasure of music in their lives, because of someone else’s dubious sexual activities, that’s up to them.
Music is one of the few pleasures I have in my life and nobody is taking it from me.

Well said boomer, do we actually know anyone really, it would be a sad old life if we boycotted everyone who didn’t live up to our standards.

Sometimes people cross a line…
None of us are perfect but!
I saw Gary Glitter live at The Lyceum many moons ago.
He was an excellent entertainer, showman and crowd pleaser.

Could I listen to his music now? No… it’s just about how I feel.
