This is a terrible tragedy .
The first thing that comes to mind is why were they alone .
I wonder if decorations from China were involved. I bought some decorative mini lights 3 yrs ago and the control box smoked within minutes of being plugged in. I took e-bay to task and claimed a full refund. Far too many items have the CE mark when many should not be so endorsed 
Every day there seems to be another heartbreaking story involving tragic and needless child deaths.
Was it always like this? I’m beginning to dread the news…

I seem to remember my parents leaving my brother and I alone in the evening when i was about 5 and my brother 3. When I think back I wonder we survived as I recall letting off fireworks in the house, poked a wire into an electric socket all while they were out playing badminton.
