Carrie Symonds and the Gold Wallpaper

Aye, so he has the funds to wallpaper a flat, but not to pay for a nanny…and apparently he took a pay cut when he became prime minister, according to the media. So…did he have a big win at the bookies or something?

Labour accuses Boris Johnson of lying over flat renovation costs

Labour has accused Boris Johnson of lying over who paid for renovations to his Downing Street flat.

Pressure is growing on the PM to reveal details after his ex-adviser, Dominic Cummings, claimed he planned for donors to “secretly pay” for the work.

Mr Johnson’s spokesman has refused to say whether he received a loan from the Conservative Party to cover the costs.

But shadow health secretary Jonathan Ashworth has demanded a “full and frank” explanation from the PM.

Speaking to BBC Breakfast, the Labour MP said: "We really need to know who’s given the loan, who’s given the money, because we need to know who the prime minister…is beholden to.

“To be honest he lied yesterday - that’s not good enough.”

No parliamentary privilege outside the House …

Yes…I liked the bit where it says “we need to know who the prime minister is beholden to”

This all happened during the time of the worst world pandemic ever. Don’t you think he had more on his mind than to give any thought to something as trivial as wallpaper and who paid for it?
What do some of you want? Blood?

Let’s talk about the good positive things he has done and not the negative things. Like making sure we were one of the first nations to secure the vaccinations and roll them out at speed.

No … Carrie takes priority over the national interest …

It just bothers me that he is so evasive about where the money came from? If it wasn’t a big deal, why hide it? And it did happen at a time where priorities and funding lay elsewhere. I agree he did well with the vaccine program, and I’m delighted he is making sure other countries like India are getting the ventilators etc (even if I do have reservations about why he is doing it). But I do wish he would be direct and honest about the things he is in the news for…

After you!
It would kill you to say anything good or positive about Boris Johnson or the government!

There is nothing good about the way Boris and his government have handled things!

Specsavers?

Probably …

It all makes me laugh.
Not only because it’s just so ridiculous but because it’s counterproductive, proving what I’ve suggested all along which is that the public can see through the rubbish and they don’t believe it (or they don’t care).
Because the government’s popularity is up!
On polling done yesterday they’re back to a 10-point lead over labour.
If this sort of rubbish keeps on we could see the Tories with a huge lead!

Who does the flat belong to ??
I believe it is owned by the state ?
Why would Boris bother to pay for renovations to a state owned
property??
Surely there is a set out proceedure for when decorations are done,
and a set amount that can be expended on it ??
And clearly he cannot be doing it for personal gain as it will never
be his ??
UNLESS?
He gets an inflated quote to do the job, and then splits the difference
with the builder ?
But is it really worth it to do that?? ???

Donkeyman!

Oooer! I thought they allready had an overwhelming majority
courtesy of the voters ??

Donkeyman!

… but you snatched up your Covid vaccination that he speedily provided for you?

Authorising the vaccine rollout was the least he could do after the bad way he has handled the crisis.

Boris Johnson was put on warning by Commons standards committee in 2019 after ‘repeated’ breaches

Boris Johnson has previously been put on warning by the Commons standards watchdog over ‘repeated’ failures to declare financial interests.

The standards commissioner Kathryn Stone has pointed to a series of breaches by Mr Johnson.

[LIST=1]
[*]He was three months late registering joint ownership of a London property with then-wife Marina in March 2017.

[*]In December 2018, Mr Johnson made a grovelling apology in the Commons for his ‘over-casual attitude’ to the rules that meant he declared almost £53,000 in outside earnings outside the 28-day deadline. Mr Johnson insisted it was an ‘inadvertent’ mistake but told MPs he was making a ‘full and unreserved apology’.

[*]Most of the payments were for royalties on Mr Johnson’s books - the most prominent of which is a biography of Winston Churchill.

[*]One was for the first payment he received from the Daily Telegraph for his £275,000 a year column.

[*]During the commissioner’s investigation, in October 2018, Mr Johnson gave an assurance that his entry in the Register of Members’ Financial Interests was complete. But that turned out to be ‘inaccurate’, as he had omitted to list part-ownership of a Somerset property. He took a 20 per cent share worth more than £100,000 in the property in late January 2018, and should have registered it with the authorities within 28 days. But he failed to list the interest until the middle of January 2019.

The standards report in April 2019 noted that there was a ‘pattern of behaviour’.

And the cross-party committee said:

BJ is a serial breacher and should be subject to serious sanction … :!:

I agree with you.

Whatever. He’s the best game in town right now.

:023:

That’s why the ridiculous nonsense persists.

Tell me. How are things going in a Labour-run Wales?
