Decided to do a check on the new Skoda wheel nuts. Nothing mentioned in the handbook on nut/bolt head size, but with research it need 17mm. Unfortunately the socket needs a deep recess inside, to cover the nut/bolt. I only had a shallow one so quick trip to Halfords foe a deep throat one . To fit my torque bar also a1/2 " square drive. Torque settings are in neuton/metres(handbook) and my old torque bar is in ft/lb and kb, so quick conversion needed. note on seperate card inserted in handbook for future reference.
on top of all that the nut/bolt heads have a plastic cover . To remove Skoda only provide a small hook on a bit of “wire?”. so again ordered a specialist pair of tweezers and a small additional wire hook.
Took a bit of time say at least half an hour to find this out, so rather find out at home instead of beside a busy road.
. Yes we have breakdown cover but nice to know we carry also the right gear for wheel replacement, including space save wheel instead of temp type bottle fluid which is a curse. Also carry a 12V tyre pump so often overlooked
the kit came with a stupidly short nut/bolt bar so no way can torque up just using that. Not over keen on scissor jacks either that come with the car spare tyre kit, rather use my troley jack but impractical to carry in the car.
Now if tyre deflates and no road side assistance I can DIY
