A runner on base, Batter hits a long ball, which is caught, the person on base does not start running until after the ball is caught. Why?
The person on base does not start running until after the ball is caught because, with fewer than two outs, a runner cannot advance on a fly ball that is caught. If they run before the catch, they risk being put out if the ball is caught before they can return to their original base, a situation known as a “double play.” They must wait until the ball is caught to “tag up,” or return to their original base and touch it before running to the next one.
is what google says
Thank you for that explanation.
Pretty sure hand on bat and ball strikes the hand on the bat, the ‘bat’ it is part of the bat.
I played baseball and coached for many years. There are rules that still stump me! Great game but guess what’s back at the MLB level? PED’s. Bank on it.
What do you expect when they use a round stick instead of a proper bat as in cricket. No wonder there is confusion over the rules
Were they - PEDs - ever out of the game?
