Can someone tell me how I can peel a butternut squash easily?
It takes me ages to peel one, I would like to make some butternut squash and red pepper soup tomorrow.
But am dreading the peeling of it,.

Slice a small amount off the top and the bottom, and try to pierce the skin a few times with a fork, then put it in the microwave on high for about 3 and a half minutes. Leave it to cool before peeling - you’ll find it a heck of a lot easier to peel!
I too can recommend this method.
Do you think I could preheat the oven and put it in there for a few minutes?
My microwave isn’t working at the moment.
You could try, but it would probably need a bit longer as microwaves are typically much quicker to cook than an oven. Perhaps try boiling it for a while? That would probably do it!
Ok thanks ,I will try boiling it first,…
Let us know how you get on.
Yes I will, thanks Bathsheba, will be making the soup tomorrow,
@pauline3 - I usually stand it in a bowl of boiling water for 4 or 5 mins while I assemble the rest of the ingredients - makes it easier.
I don’t have a pan big enough to fully submerge it, so will will turn it over halfway through boiling.
Done it ladies, thank you so much for the tip, it’s peeling off so easy, it will be roasted once it’s peeled, roasting gives the soup a nicer flavour will also add peppers to the roasting pan.
