But it's still Meat!

Oh yes, clay baked meat is not peculiar to that lot, others do it too. It was a recognised method of cooking long before indoor manufactured cookers.

In those days the gipsies were usually the real ones, the Romanies. They were more well thought of than what are often and mistakenly called gipsies today, who are just tinkers. Most of us will know the problems they cause so will say no more.

Well what can I say? Thereā€™s always a relevant album from LongDriver to suit almost every post! :grinning: :+1:

Cher is a very interesting person if the information on Wikipedia is read, she has done such a lot so far in her lifetime. An interesting read I thought:

[/quote] Tis the music in me, or rather my soul :+1: If music be the food of love, play on :hugs:

I am surprised no one had posted thisā€¦

All this talk of Hog Roast reminds me of the first time someone mentioned 'pulled porkā€™ to me and I very nearly collapsed in hysterics because I had no idea what was but did have a rather norty mental picture . . tut tuts from my wife, but too late as I was gone, real gone  :joy: :innocent:

@LongDriver The amount of music you post and the variety of it doesnā€™t go unnoticed, I reckon the relevance part must be catching though:

I think sometimes music dominants my life and happy that is doesā€¦
Foodā€¦ one time whilst living in San Juan de Alicante we were taken out for a surprise meal by very close friends, was my Birthdayā€¦
When we pulled up outside the Restaurant, Husband and I looked at each other and did take a huge intake or breath. It was 100% only a Hog Roast Restaurant.

We had chosen not to ever go there.
So here we are with the little pig on a large platter and felt so bad for it.
We got through that meal but was not nice. Never, hopefully again.

We eat meat and have both been brought up with meat eating families and I know Husband could eat some things I would notā€¦
I eat Chicken Port Beef and Lambā€¦I will not eat duck pate even.
Fish we eat as well.

We use the supermarkets and the butchers here ā€¦Butchers are more expensive but the meat is much better in tenderness and taste.

I know how Tescoā€™s meat was in our Bexhill Branch very changeableā€¦
.Beef a no go there,Butchers was pretty good though.

We eat a lot less meat these days. but have traditional English Mealsā€¦

Yes, itā€™s a logical animal to farm and eat but people find it hard to accept eating them, a bit like eating insects I suppose

Yet some people eat rabbit and a lot of food contains red colouring made out of insects

Yes, itā€™s true, apparently

I found this link to a proposed hedgehog eating Festival that caused a bit of uproar

Hedgehog Eating BBQ

I donā€™t think it matters which animal you eat, you either believe itā€™s OK to kill animals for food or you donā€™t

Very apt Tiffany, yes your post of Meet your Meat kind of sums up this Thread.

I am sure Iā€™m right in thinking, some crisp company brought Hedgehog flavoured crisps

I wouldā€™ve been the same, thats what I mean when I say Food with a Face

Yep.

1981 & though I remember them, I donā€™t think I ever tried a bag.
That said I would rather try that flavour than some of the strange flavours I see nowadays.

Cheers Zaphod.

I wasnā€™t completely sureā€¦ Next question " Did They "

I remember the 1980s and the decades either side but not that flavour of crisps,
by the sound of those I donā€™t believe I missed all that much though!
:grinning:

I tend to agree with you

But whats that old adage " Donā€™t knock it till you try it "

Yes I still agree with you

Personally I donā€™t even think I could get as far as trying them, probably that is psychological but that flavour doesnā€™t even appeal to me in the least!

I guess that a manufactured flavour is not quite as bad, which is what eventually did happen,
but even so ā€¦ ?

 I shout that too and ā€œorange sauceā€ when I see ducks in a field.
