I had to replace the two front tyres in an emergency following a puncture. The dealership only had a budget brand in my size. They were closing down and had to use the existing stock. Anybody had an experience of budget brands. I think the name is West Lake or something similar.
Some say budget tyres can result in more fuel use… but I’ve generally found them to be ok.
If you don’t do lots of miles and don’t drive a lot on motorways, then they should be ok, I personally wouldn’t buy any cheap “ ditchfinder” tyres , in tests they generally don’t do well, but just pottering around town , as I said, they’ll be ok, just be careful in the wet…
When I lived in the UK in the late 60s/early 70s I used to buy cheap Israeli tyres for the back of my ex GPO Morris van, they looked like the tread had been cut out with a knife but they lasted as long as tyres that cost a lot more than ÂŁ5
Beware of retread tyres
Found there was a slight reduction in fuel consumption but the road noise on motorways is greater. I will get a couple of years use and replace them.
